Bth GRADE GIRLS DEFEAT WESTVILLE The Urey Middle School eighth grade girls handed visiting Westville a one-sided 44-9 defeat Thursday afternoon in girls junior high basketball. The win was the first for the Falcons in four outings. The locals led 8-2 at the end of the first period and held a 12-7 advantage midway through the second quarter. At that point the Falcons went on a 12-0 run to take a 24-7 halftime lead. The winners outscored the Blackhawks 12-0 in the third stanza to lead 36-7 at the start of the final six-minute segment. The Falcons' Kelsey Wallace popped in 15 points to take game scoring honors. Lisa Matz added 8 tallies followed by Alicia Allsop, Leslie Emmons, Susan Eddinger and Tiffany Hesters with 4 points a piece. Others scoring for the locals were Beth Arnett 2, Jessica Higgins 2 and Kim Carbiener 1 Crystal Brooke, Sara Martin and Lisa Gee also played well. The victory was the fifth without a defeat for the hosts while the locals dropped their second game in as many starts. The outcome was never in doubt as the Lions raced to a 12-0 advantage and then settled for a 14-6 first period lead. Bremen led 25-10 at the half and 36-20 at the end of three quarters.
