Members of North Liberty Boy Scouts Snake Eyes Patrol wait in the snow for their final score at the Klondike Derby, recently, placing seventh overall. A PINK AND BLUE SHOWER HELD On February 9, at 2:00 p.m., Jan Glennon was honored with a baby shower. The shower was held at the American Legion Post 400, Fish Lake. The shower opened with introductions, then prayer led by JoAnn Trapp, Jan’s aunt. Bingo was played by the thirty guests that were present. Door prizes were won by Teresa Mattke and Wilda Henry. COMMANDER’S CORNER For veterans who died after November 1, 1990 the headstone or marker allowance is no longer paid. Eligible veterans are still entitled to receive a goverment provided headstone or marker for the burial site. If the veterans death is service connected, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will pay an allowance to up to $1,500.00 in lieu of the basic allowances for funeral and interment expenses. Transporting the remains to the nearest national grave cemetery is also reimbursable. Each time a veteran lets his membership lapse, the American Legion loses a little of its strength it takes to carry our message to
