GLENN COMEBACK WINS OVERTIME THRILLER 68-65 The John Glenn Falcons came from behind two times in the last minute of play and in an overtime period Friday night to cap an exciting night of Hoosier basketball. Behind a great individual performance by Kevin Stedman, the Falcons edge a good Mishawaka Marian team 68-65 in overtime to record their 12th victory of the season against four losses. Marian dropped to 11 -6 with the defeat. The Falcons never scored a basket in the overtime period but making good on seven of eight free throws, they were able to account for the win. They trailed 65-62 at one point in the overtime, but hit their next six free throws for the

victory. In the regulation game, they also trailed by five points, 60-55, with less than a minute left, but was able to pull ahead by one only to have one of two free throws by Marian tie the score at 61 forcing the extra three minute period. The game was tight all the way. Glenn jumped to a 19-15 first quarter lead after Marian had initially moved to a quick lead mainly behind their 6’9’’ center, Drew Zurek. However, Stedman accepted the challenge of meeting the big man head to head and certainly won the battle in this game. Stedman had 11 of Glenn's 19 first quarter points while Zurek had six of Marian's. The Knights pulled right back in the contest in the second period and when the halftime intermission came, the visitors had a slim 36-35 lead. By this time Stedman had 21 for the Fai-
cons added 10 more in the second quarter while Zurek had 13 for the Knights. The third quarter found the scoring action slowing down as Marian outscored Glenn 9-7 in this quarter. Stedman had five of the seven Glenn points and the two teams went into the final regular stanza with Marian ahead 45-42. Stedman, a senior, and Toby Gardner, a sophomore, were the big offensive guns for Glenn in their fourth quarter drive. Each had eight points in this period including Glenn's only 3-pointer of the night by Gardner right after Marian had moved ahead 60-55 with just under a minute to play. Gardner’s basket at the :38 mark was followed by three more Falcon points to take a 61-60 lead before the tying free throw forced the overtime. Stedman Hita 36 Stedman led all scorers by a wide

margin as he had a career high 36 points on 11 baskets, 14 out of 17 from the free throw line and added 10 boards to the cause. He had over half of Glenn’s points and Gardner was the only other double figure contributor with 14. Zurek paced the losers with 22 while J. Kloska and 12, Brendel 11 and Dobosiewic accounted for 10, but the free throws eventually made the difference. The Falcons netted 25 of 30 attempts in this game, 13 coming in the last quarter and overtime period. Marian only connected on 16 of 26, missing key free throws down the stretch. Big Game* This Weekend The Falcons will have two big ballgames this weekend and must not look at all past Friday night’s game on the road towards Saturday’s contest at home. On Friday they will travel to LaVUle for the game that will have a definite outcome on the Northern State Conference title race this year. If the Falcons win they will assure themselves of at least a tie for the title, but a loss to LaVille would in all probability drop them as low as third behind LaVille and Knox, depending on what these two teams do in the last couple weeks of the season. Glenn edged LaVille 52-49 in the opening game of the BiCounty three weeks ago. On Saturday night the Plymouth Pilgrims will visit Glenn’s gym for a possible big sectional preview. The Pilgrims have an 11-4 record at this point and have been a pleasant surprise for Plymouth fans this year. These three teams, along with Bremen, will be the power of
