SENIOR CITIZENS BOWLING NEWS While the Seniors found the lanes especially puzzling this past week, there were still several good scores posted. A few bowlers solved the mystery, made adjustments and scored well! The ladies enjoyed close competition in all categories. High scratch game was Vollie Verkinder's 173, followed by Irene Gjemre’s 162 and Merle Bruesch’s 160 games. High handicap game was Gjemre’s 241, with Verkinder’s 236 placing second. Gertrude Brehm’s 218 was third. High series total was Verkinder's 434, just topping Bruesch’s 432. Mildren McKesson was third with a 409 series total. day. High scratch game was Harold Schweder’s 198. Mel Divine followed with a 182 game. Marion Anderson and Eli Sobat tied, each rolling 177 games. High handicap game was Schweder’s 232, followed by Sobat's 220. Mel Divine was just one pin back, posting a 219 game. High series total for the gents was Roman Brehm’s 496, topping Anderson’s 487 and Sobat’s 480 totals. The scores were rather low, but the challenge was there, and plenty of exercise was enjoyed by all! Come try it, you Seniors. You’re sure to enjoy it, along with the coffee, cookies and conversation! A thank you was read from Mental Health for a cash donation. Norma Eddinger reported as chairman of the moninating committee, with her slate of officers to include herself as president; Gerri Ruby as vice president; Mary Hahn as secretary and Nancy Stickley as incumbent treasurer. Election will take place February 24 at the home of Ruth Ullery, who assisted Eddineer on her committee. Marrianne Kline, Extension Agent on Family Living, will be a special guest on February 24 to present a lesson, ‘‘Grilling Out.” Reservations to attend International Day on March 31 at The Spaghetti Works, South Bend, will be taken.
