Lady Falcons Upset Bid Foiled By Lehr 43-30 The John Glenn Lady Falcons dropped a Northern State Conference basketball tilt, 43-30, as the LaVille Lancers broke open a close contest in the fourth quarter on the winners’ court Tuesday night. The Falcons, who suffered a 31-point shellacking to the Lancers a week earlier, surprised the hosts with a sticky man-to-man half court defense. The locals' defense held high scoring Andy Lehr to just three first half points. However, Lehr started to warm up in the third quarter and then came out smoking in the fourth stanza as she drilled five threepointers which sank the Falcons gallant upset bid. Glenn led at the end of eight minutes of play, 8-6, before LaVille took a 13-12 advantage at the intermission. The Falcons trailed by six, 26-20, at the third stop and the beginning of Lehr’s barrage. Senior Michele Knepp scored 12 points to lead the Falcons, while Lehr led all scorers with 23. The loss was the seventh without a win in NSC play for the losers and their 13th in 16 outings overall. LaVille is 4-2 in league action and 12-4 in all games. The Plymouth 6th grade came out on top this game winning by one basket on both the A team and B team. Despite the teamwork of the Wildcats, the Plymouth A team's Collins was too much. He scored 12 of their 29 points and rebounded many baskets with his 5’11” height. Both team played a tough game. The B team had a real close game losing by one point. The last game of the season against Bremen proved to be a very exciting game if one was willing to stay for the end of the game. At second quarter, we were down 15 points. The Wildcats clawed their way back up losing by just two points. Brandon Groves made 8 points, Jeremy Haag 2, Corey Rough 8, Scott Ruby 3, Steve Ruby 5, Wes Seaman 1, Brian Snell 5 and Josh Williams 5.
