JV GIRLS FALL IN 81-COUNTY SEMI-FINALS John Glenn’s girls junior varsity suffered a heartbreaking 24-20 loss to Bremen in the semi-final round of the Bi-County basketball tournament Saturday morning on the winners’ hardwood. The Lady Lions led throughout much of the first three periods before the Falcons went on a 6-0 run to knot the score at 16-all after three quarters of play. Trailing 21-20 with less than a minute to play, the locals were forced to foul and the Lions responded by hitting three of four from the charity stripe to preserve the win. Bremen held a 4-2 lead at the first stop and 12-10 advantage at the intermission. The victory improved the Lions record to 10-7 and advanced them into the championship game against Culver Saturday afternoon. The Falcons are now 10-6 and will close out their regular season Thursday night as they entertain South Bend St. Joseph’s. Anittah Patrick led the Glenn forces with 6 points and 9 rebounds. Renee Fisher and Dara Cisney each had 4 points followed by Tabatha Higgins with 3, Elyse Clingenpeel 2 and Christy Werner 1. Jennifer Hoover also played

well. Coach Dan Hutton was extremely proud of his team for their outstanding hustle and defensive play. He cited his team's inability to hit the outside shots against a very agressive Bremen zone defense as the difference in the contest. Glenn hit only 5 of 46 shots from the field while Bremen nailed 7of 25. The Lions converted 8 of 13 charity tosses while the locals dropped in 6 of 12 from the 15-foot stripe. MEMBERSHIPS SOUGHT The Bth Air Force was established on January 28, 1942 and it has been on continuous active service ever since. About 350,000 persons were assigned or attached to the Bth AF in WWII, suffering more than half of all Air Force casualties during that period. Since that war, at least 650,000 have served this country as a part of "The Mighty Eighth." The Bth AF Historical Society was founded in 1975 to encourage Bth AF units to organize and provide opportunities for interested Bth AF veterans, past and present, to get together. Its primary purpose is to perpetuate the history of "The Mighty Eighth." Former members of the Bth AF and others interested in perpetuating the history of "The Mighty

COMMANDER’S CORNER The veterans in the state of Indiana have no voice in our present body of government. There is a bill now in the Senate, SB #2B, it will give us a strong voice if passed. The American Legion is urging all veterans to contact your senator and demand that SB #2B be passed. Veterans have been taking it on the chin for too long, it’s time to stand up and be heard. That works hand in hand with the fact that the Indiana Department of Revenue has been over stepping it’s bounds it seems to be. We are getting reports of several Legion posts who have to come up with huge sums of money in order to stay open, due to their audit. For instance a Fort Wayne post had to come up with $62,000.00 in order to stay open. The Indiana supreme court has already declared Legion posts as a non-profit organization. Our post could not survive this type of audit. So be sure and contact your representative about SB #2B.

Thank you so much for the nice get well cards you sent during my stay in the hospital. It was always a pleasant surprise to answer my phone while there and hear friends voices from Walkerton, North Liberty or Elmhurst, Illinois. It helped pass the time while looking at the beautiful flowers from my relatives and friends. I want to especially thank Gene and Margo Brems and family for taking care of things at home and also for the transportation to and from the hospital at the end of eight days. Thanks again to everyone. Norma F.
