VOLUME 117; NUMBER 35
AMBULANCE NEWS In the month of December there were a total of 40 ambulance runs, including fire standbys, auto accidents, heart attacks and general illnesses. Two of these calls were held up several minutes because 911 was called instead of the local ambulance number. Both of these calls were critical. One of these calls went through two dispatch offices before it got to your local ambulance service. Please put the number for your local ambulance, fire and police near your phone and be sure all family members know where it is. Walkerton can use one number, 586-3511, and reach police. fire and ambulance, because we all use the same very efficient dispatchers. 911 is an easy number to remember and 1 hear it is very effective in areas where it is in use, unfortunately Walkerton is not an area where 911 is in use and calling 911 only delays our response time. Again use 586-3511. The Walkerton Ambulance Service is offering two CPR classes in February. One evening class and one day time class. The day time class will be on February 11, starting at 9:00 a.m. and will be completed on that day. The evening classes will be held February 19 and 20, starting at 7:00 p.m. There will be a charge of 53.00 to cover the cost of the materials used. The classes will be taught by Jean Brownlee and Janice Stoneburner, who will volunteer their time to teach the classes. If you are interested in taking these classes, please call Jean Brownlee at 58633% no later than February 5 so we will have time to get the material we need. We hope to have good response to these classes as they will set the pace for future classes and who knows, if you know CPR it just may save the life of a friend or loved one. We at Walkerton EMS would like to see everyone trained in CPR because we know it is a life saving procedure and is not difficult to learn and the reward could be so great. Again the day time date is February 11 starting at 9:00 a.m. and the evening classes are on February 19 and 20, starting at 7:00 p.m. with deadline for sign up February 5. NOTICE The Marshall County Christian Women’s Club will meet cm Wednesday, Feb. 5, for their monthly buffet luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Balloon Wurks Restaurant, Holiday Inn, Plymouth. Theme for the meeting is "The Quilting Room" with Eleanor Heckaman, Lakeville, the featured speaker. For reservations call Barbara at 586-2284 or Gen at 936-6299 by Friday, January 31. To get employees to work on time, try providing 45 parking spaces for 50 cars. You’re growing older gracefully when the number of things you can no longer do is roughly equal to the number of things you no longer want to do.
