SENIOR CITIZENS bowling NEWS The Senior Bowlers started the second half of their season in fine style, with many improving their average by a point or two. They were all well rested from the holidays and produced some very close competition, as they made the pins fall. The ladies saw Norine Divine’s high scratch game of 164 just top Marge Buswell's 161 game Betty Ogle gave them a challenge, posting a 157 game. Buswell’s 242 high handicap game beat the 222 of Divine and Ogie, who tied for second place. Betty Weinman was quite close with a 218 game. High series total of 443 was tallied by Divine. Ogle’s 420 and Mildred McKesson's 411 were second and third, respectively. The remainder of the season is sure to see more close competition among the ladies! The gents were not to be found wanting for competition, either! High scratch game was Manon Anderson's (an octogenarian 4-) 188, just topping Jack Grimmett's 18” game. posting 181 games High handicap game was John Clark s 230, just beating Divine’s 228. There was a three-way tie for third place, with Anderson. Grimmett and Claude Nowakowski each having 225 games. Anderson’s high senes total of 509 led the group. Grimmett totaled 493 and Frank Hecimovich 484 for second and third placement One can see from those scores that competition can’t get much closer! With 31 bowlers out this week, there was still spots open for more active senior bowlers Come join this lively group each Wednesdav afternc»on at 200 p.m. at the Walkerton Shady Lanes For a couple of hours, at least, you can forget the dark cloudy days of the post holiday season.
