TEACHERS CREDIT UNION DECREASES CREDIT CARD INTEREST RATES Richard J. Rice, president and CEO of Teachers Credit Union (TCU), recently announce a significant decrease in interest rates on all TCU credit card products. “TCU’s credit card interest rates are among the very best available nationally," Rice stated. Effective January 1, 1992, rates charged to members change to: VISA Classic, 14.87%, no annual fee. VISA God, 11.50% variable, $24 annual fee. Master Card, 13.93% APR, sl2 annual fee. TCU lowered credit card rates in response to falling interest rates. "Years ago when interest rates were rising, we had to raise our credit card rates. Now that rates are coming down, we feel it’s only fair to lower credit card rates too," Rice explained. “When we see an opportunity to increase benefits to our members, we take it. Lower rates help our members make purchases. Increased consumer spending in turn stimulates the economy. This helps everyone," he added. All of TCU’s credit cards carry a 25 day grace period on new purchases. VISA Gold and Master Card offer a wide array of travel and entertainment benefits including discounts, insurance and emergency services. Members may also use a TCU Master Card in any automatic teller machine connected to the CIRRUS network. TCU members may apply for a credit card by calling the Easy Line at (219) 289-EASY, toll-free 1-800-365-EASY. Applications are also availble at all TCU Service Centers.
