Bi-County Tourney Drawings Set For January 20 - 25 The defending champion John Glenn Falcons, also the early favorite for this year’s crown, will help get the action underway in the 27th annual Bi-County Tourney in January. The Falcons will meet the host LaVille Lancers, who along with Bremen would be considered the top threats to Glenn. The game will be played on Tuesday, January 21, at 6:30 p.m., putting one of the better teams on the sidelines early in this year's meet. The pairings for the tourney were made last Tuesday and are completed as follows: After the Glenn and LaVille opening match, Bremen will meet New Prairie. On Wednesday night the lower bracket will get underway with Argos and Culver Community meeting at 6:30 p.m. and Culver Military Academy and OregonDavis at 8:00. The leaves the bottom bracket without a team close to an even record, but one of them will advance to the final game on Saturday night thanks to the draw. Semi-final round action for the boys varsity teams will be Friday at 7:00 and 8:30 p.m. with the Tuesday night winners meeting first and the Wednesday night winners completing the action. On Saturday evening, at 6:30 p.m., the girls varsity finals will be played with the boys varsity championship following at 8:30 p.m. Once again, the drawing for the varsity is followed the entire way through the girls action and both the boys and girls B-Teams. There will be first round games at four sites, LaVille will visit Glenn, New Prairie will travel to Bremen, Culver Community at Argos and Ore-gon-Davis will play at Culver Military Academy. On the Monday night schedule will be three games at each site, both B-Teams and the girls varsity. Second round action for the girls varsity teams will be held on Thursday night at 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. at Bremen, setting up the finals for Saturday night. The B-Teams will travel to Bremen on Saturday morning as the Monday winners will meet starting at 9:00 a.m. with the girls B-Team winners from Monday. At 10:30 a.m., the boys B-Team winners of Monday will meet with the girls B-Team finals at 12:00 noon and the boys championship at 1:30 p.m. More information about the 1992 tourney along with ticket information will follow in coming weeks. FALCONS TOP SOUTH CENTRAL FRIDAY NIGHT The John Glenn Falcons won their fifth game of the season Friday night as they returned to action after the holiday layoff. A convincing 75-49 victory over South Central boosted Glenn’s record to 5-2 for the year as they head into the very busy part of their schedule with two games each weekend for three of the next four weeks and the Bi-County Tourney the other week. It was the Falcons all the way. They jumped off to an 18-9 first period lead and from there were never really threatened as they increased their margin to 35-22 by halftime. Coach Gordon Mosson was able to use all his players freely with eight of the 10 boys seeing action in all four quarters All five starters scored in the opening period as Glenn took the lead they were never to see challenged. For the game, four Falcons ended in double figures with Kevin Stedman leading the way with 19 points on nine baskets and one free throw. Toby Gardner and Aaron Casteel had 14 each and Jayson Groves scored 10. For the losers Werner had 15 for the only South Central player in double figures. Two Gamer This Weekend The first Friday and Saturday combination of the coming weeks will have the Falcons at North Judson on Friday night against the Bluejays. On Saturday they will return home to host Northern State Conference foe Triton. Both con tests have 6:30 starting times for the preliminary game.
