GOURMET CLUB MEETS The September gathering of the Greater Walkerton Area Men’s Gourmet Club was held at the home of John McGee. The meeting began with grilled bacon/sausage roll-ups served with garlic toast and spicy cheese spread. After some jovial conversation, the membership moved to the dining room for the evening’s meal. Chilled shrimp cocktail with "special red sauce" served as the appetizer. A garden salad with "sweet Italian" dressing and warm rye bread was served next. The main course consisted of baked half chicken with Russian-apricot glaze, cheddar stuffed double-baked potatoes and fresh broccoli with cheese sauce. The entrees were accompanied by chilled blush wine and fresh Italian bread. After a few minutes of relaxation, apple crisp with whipped cream was served for dessert. After the meal, the membership took a few moments to make a few recognitions. Joe Hunting was offically welcomed as our newest member. Joe replaces co-founder Jim New who was forced to resign due to business conflicts. Good luck. Jim! Bill Lechner, newlywed husband of Lisa Rizek. was honored as guest for the evening. Wayne McGee was recognized as soon to be first-time father; and the club toasted the official beginning of our fifth year of existence. The next scheduled meeting will be at the home of Roger Orcutt.
