they were entertained by the Fun Follies Band, of LaPorte. John Sheneman is Worshipful Master. Our sympathy goes to the Bert Rudynski family in the loss of Arlene on Saturday evening. Ruby Salyer of Teegarden held her quilt show this year at the United Methodist Church in Teegarden, which proved to be a great success with a huge crowd attending on all three days. Many quilting groups came from Michigan and other places. Others came from Wisconsin, Texas. Florida. Pennsylvania and all over Indiana. The church was filled with beautiful quilts displayed for all to see. Ellen Kaiser had her quilting machine set up in the basement and she showed all who were interested how she machine quilts. Gladys Sheneman was busy hand-quilting on a quilt for Ruby and answered questions, showed them how to set up a quilt and do quilting. Food was made and served by Nellie Heyde, of LaPaz and Janice Shidler, of Lakeville and it was all delicious. Material at Ruby’s store was all cut and sold from friends who come

every year from Milwaukee, Wis. She is planning already to hold her quilt show at the same place in Teegarden next year. Congratulations goes to Lonnie and Justine Shelter on the birth of their son, Lonnie Van Lee Shelter, Jr., born on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Pat and Steve Foresman are the happy grandparents. Hi Dennis Dunn, so sorry I wasn’t home Sunday when you called. Glad you left me a note. Come again. You are welcome to attend the great revival meeting being held at the Church of christ every night this week. John Byard, of Lexington, Kentucky, is our evangelist and he is great. Ransome Ebersole, of Sauktown Church, is our song evangelist. So plan now to attend. Our Day Break Singers will sing Thursday evening and Friday night will be “linger longer after service” night. Robert and Rosezella Dietrich, of Kissimee, Florida spent the weekend with Ethel Rauen and on Sunday morning they all enjoyed brunch with Bill and Mary Hartman. They also called on other relatives and friends while here. Just received a call from Faith Snodgrass in South Bend that she just received a letter from Linda Correll, daughter of Gilbert (Curly) Hartung, who used to live here near Florence Garwood and had a shoe and tin repair shop back in the 1950’5. Linda wrote to say her father, Gilbert, has been in a nursing home the past nine months and when she goes to see him she always reads the North Liberty News as he get the paper. So after seeing Faith's address in my news she decided to write her as they were neighbors when she was growing up here in North Liberty. They now live in Needville, Texas. Her brothers, Harold and David, also live in Texas and said to say “hello" to all her family, so Faith called her son in Florida to tell him the

good news after some 40 years. Small world, isn’t it? Linda’s address is 4706 Sandhill Dr., Needville, Texas 77461-8733, so please drop Curly a line. Florence Gard attended a surprise on Gertie Deakin, 79, last Sunday at Thorntown and then on Monday Gertie, her daughter Sue Doan, of Ormond Beach, Florida, came and surprised her too. She then left for Florida with her mother. Mary and Jim Hiatt, of North Liberty, also called on Sunday afternoon and surprised her. Florence stayed Sunday night with her son Robert Gard at DeMotte and returned home Monday afternoon. Ethel Rauen spent last weekend visiting her brother, Wesley Mack, and his wife and other relatives in Wanatah. On Saturday evening she attended the 62nd Alumni Banquet of the Wanatah School and met some of her old classmates. On Thursday, September 27, about 50 residents, along with the activity workers, helpers and cooks from Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Walkerton, enjoyed a picnic dinner at Stuntz & Hochstetler Pines social room at noon.

Gladys Sheneman played the piano while they ate and many sang along after which they were taken through the Christmas Shop to see all the beautiful Christmas decorations, Halloween and for all other occasions. Just think, Halloween will be here before we know it. Don’t forget this coming weekend is the big Pumpkin Festival in Walkerton.
