NORTH LIBERTY NEWS By Gladys Sheneman Recycling days will be held at the North Liberty Community Building this Thursday and Friday. The Blissville Church will hold their auction Saturday, September 14, at the Tyner Community Building. They always have a lot of good buys. Esther Smith, of South Bend, called Saturday to tell me that she took over the old telephone office when Helen Neidlinger left and managed it until Helen returned. She worked from 1937 to 1944 for 25 cents an hour. Can you imagine that? Later she bought Blosser’s Shoe Store, in half of the store where Harvey’s bought from her later, and moved the shoes to the back of the store and put a 5 and 10 cent store in the front. Any of you remember when Esther was in the store business? Please remember her as she just returned home from the hospital and is recovering from surgery. Ruby Salyer is holding her quilt show this year at the Teegarden United Methodist Church, so it will be much better. A tent will be put up on the lawn with a quilt that anyone can quilt on and chairs so guests can visit. Also a quilt that her sewing class made for hospice will be given away on the last day of the quilt show. Remember the dates Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 26, 27 and 28. Bring your friends and enjoy the day looking at all the beautiful quilts on display. Welcome home, Nick Lung, from the service after serving your country for the past seven months. It was so good to see you arrive in South Bend and get off that bus
