Medical staff "update Internist joins Walkerton Clinic La Porte Hospital is pleased to welcome internist Joseph B. Kopp, M.D. to our community. Dr. Kopp will be practicing internal medicine at the Walkerton Clinic, 506 Michigan Street, Walkerton. He will provide primary care - from routine and preventative medical care to illness of a more serious nature. After receiving his medical degree at New York University in New York City, Dr. Kopp completed an internship at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, New Jersey and a residency in medicine at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, New York. He also completed a fellowship in hematology in Buffalo and a fellowship in microbiology at Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia. He completed an advanced fellowship in anatomical pathology at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Kopp is board certified in Internal Medicine and Clincal Pathology. Prior to joining Walkerton Clinic, Dr. Kopp was an Associate Professor of Medicine at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Olympia Fields and Downers Grove, Illinois. board continue transportation assistance to the Greene Township families during the 1991-92 school year with the condition the Greene Township bus will service students who live on the north side of Potato Creek Park. The administration’s recommendation for the amount to be covered would an amount not to exceed $9,117. The $9,117 is the same amount that was paid last year. Mr. Patrick stated his belief the corp, should pay for all of transportation costs or none of the transportation costs. Mr. Miller expressed a desire to have Mr. Reese contact the South Bend Community School Corporation to request transportation support for the Greene Township students who attend the John Glenn School Corporation. Mr. Reese will contact South Bend to ask for their financial support for transportation of these tuition students. After further discussion, a motion was made by Dan Patrick and seconded by Dave Hostetler for the John Glenn School Corporation to pick up the entire costs of transportation for the Greene Township students. The costs for the year would be $16,452. The motion failed by a vote of three to four with Board members Patrick, Hostetler and Miller voting for the motion and Board members Knowlton, Ludwig, Stedman and Beem voting against. A motion was made by Gene Knowlton and seconded by Don Ludwig for the John Glenn School Corporation to pay a figure of not to exceed $9,117 for transportation of the Greene Township students. School. Mr. Reese was informed by Brad Schmeltz the wall that was recently damaged by a garbage truck at Walkerton Elementary School has been repaired and finishing touches will be added before school begins. 2. North Liberty Elementary School Brad Schmeltz, Maintenance Director, informed Mr. Reese the tennis courts at North Liberty have been filled, resealed and have been colored. Also, some electrical work needed at North Liberty is completed and unit ventilators will be installed beginning August 23 at North Liberty. Mr. Kaufman, Mr. Schmeltz and the teachers will work out rotation of classes so that the necessary work can be finished as soon as possible. 3. John Glenn High School Mr. Schmeltz is in the process of replacing an exhaust fan in the kitchen at John Glenn High School. This task will be completed by the first day of school. b. Orientation Day — August 19, 1991 Mr. Reese invited all the Board members to attend the John Glenn School Corporation Orientation Day, August 19, 1991 at 8:00 a.m. at Urey Middle School. All new employees of the Corporation will be introduced and a short meeting will be held. c. Other Mr. Branson Hiatt, patron of the John Glenn School Corporation, requested that his name be placed on the agenda to speak at the August 20, 1991 School Board meeting. NEXT MEETING DATES Board president Jean Ann Beem established the next meeting date to be August 20, 1991 at 7:30 p.m. at John Glenn High School. This Board meeting will include a public hearing on the proposed General Fund, Transportation, Debt Service and Capital Projects Fund budgets for 1992. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Dan Patrick to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Dave Hostetler and passed by a vote of seven to zero.
