d. June Maher, Chapter One aide, seven hours per week. Mrs. June Maher was recommended by Mrs. Lightfoot to fill a Chapter One aide’s position at seven hours a week at WES. A motion was made by Don Ludwig, seconded by Mary Kay Stedman, to appoint Mrs. June Maher as Chapter One aide at WES for seven hours per week. The motion passed seven to zero. 3. Change in Postion. a. Betty Hostetler, instructional aide. WES. Chapter One, transfer from full-time to half-time. The administration recommends that Mrs. Betty Hostetler, instructional aide at WES in the Chapter One program, be transferred from a full-time position to a half-time position. A motion was made by Gene Knowlton and seconded by Dan Patrick to approve the administration's recommendation
concerning Mrs. Hostetler. The motion carried six/zero/one with Mr. Dave Hosterier abstaining. b. Mrs. Sandy Hartsell, half-time Chapter One, half-time corp, instructional aide, WES transfer to full-time corporations aide. Mr. Reese recommends the board accept Mrs. Lightfoot’s recommendation to transfer Sandy Hartsell to a full-time corporation aide at WES. A motion was made by Gene Knowlton and seconded by Dan Patrick to accept the administration’s recommendation. The motion passed six to zero to one with Mr. Hostetler abstaining. c. North Liberty Elementary School. 1. Resignation. a. Margo Lent, instructional aide. Mr. Kaufman recommends the board accept the resignation of Mrs. Margo Lent as instructional aide at NLES. Mrs. Lent has worked for the corp, for the past ten years. She has done an excellent job in serving the students and the staff at NLES. The motion was made by Dan Patrick and seconded by Mary Kay Stedman to approve Mrs. Lent’s resignation from NLES. The motion passed seven to zero. 2. Appointments. a. Mrs. Betty Roth, Chapter One teacher, NLES. Mr. Kaufman recommends Mrs. Roth be appointed Chapter One teacher at NLES. A motion was
made by Dave Hostetler and seconded by Don Ludwig to appoint Mrs. Betty Roth as Chapter One teacher at NLES. The motion passed seven to zero. b. Mrs. Beverly Lung, instructional aide. Mr. Kaufman recommends Mrs. Lung be appointed as instructional aide at NLES. A motion was made by Dave Hostetler and seconded by Don Ludwig to appoint Mrs. Lung as instructional aide at North Liberty. The motion passed seven to zero. d. Urey Middle School. 1. Resignation. a. Sue Olund, student council sponsor, UMS. Mr. Reese recommends the board accept Miss Olund’s resignation as student council sponsor. A motion was made by Dan Patrick, seconded by Gene Knowlton, to accept Mr. Reese’s recommendation. The motion passed seven to zero. b. Miss Karen LaSocha, Bth grade volleyball coach, UMS. Mr. Reese advises the board to accept Miss LaSocha’s resignation as Bth grade volleyball coach. A motion was made by Dan Patrick and seconded by Gene Knowlton to accept Miss LaSocha’s resignation. The motion passed seven to zero. 2. Appointments. a. Lisa Cox, Bth grade volleyball coach, UMS. A motion was mde by Gene Knowlton, seconded by Nilas Miller to accept the administration’s recommendation to appoint Mrs. Lisa Cox as Bth grade volleyball coach at UMS. The motion passed seven to zero. b. Mr. Gene Davis, Middle School Head Football Coach. A motion was made by Gene Knowlton, seconded by Nilas Miller to accept the administration’s recommendation to appoint Mr. Gene Davis as Middle School Head Football Coach. The motion passed seven to zero. c. Damon Groves, assistant football coach, UMS. Mr. Reese recommends the board appoint Mr. Damon Groves as assistant football coach at Urey Middle School. Knowlton, seconded by Nilas Miller, to accept the administration’s recommendation to appoint Mrs. Francie Seville as student council sponsor at Urey. The motion passed seven to zero. e. John Glenn High School. 1. Appointments. a. Donna Horne, head cook. Mr. Reese recommends the board appoint Mrs. Donna Horne as head cook at JGHS. Mrs. Horne comes highly recommended after spending approximately six years in the food service area at South Central Community Schools. A motion was made by Dave Hostetler and seconded by Dan Patrick to appoint Mrs. Home as head cook at JGHS. The motion passed seven to zero. 2. Tuition, 1991-92 School Year. The administration recommends the 1991-92 transfer tuition rates be set as follows: Kindergarten, $1,435.20; Grades 1-6, $2,870.40; Grades 7-8, $2,812.15; Grades 9-12, $3,029.21. Mr. Patrick had questions concerning how transfer tuition is calculated and what impact the proposed new middle school would have on transfer tuition in the years to come. Mr. Patrick asked why John Glenn’s tuition costs were so high compared to some other area schools. Mrs. Flora, corporation treasurer, responded the corporation uses a form provided by the state which does include a variety of costs that are calculated from the General Fund, from Capital Projects and also from the Debt Service Fund. Mr. Reese reminded the board the costs that are proposed are estimated costs for the 1991-92 school year. In the past, the actual costs after all figures are completed have been lower. After further discussion of this item, Dave Hostetler made a motion to accept the administration’s recommendation concerning transfer tuition costs. His motion was seconded by Nilas Miller. The motion passed six to zero to one with Mary Kay Stedman abstaining. 3. Letters of request for transfer tuition students. The administration recommends approval of the following transfer tuition requests: a. Ryan Liedtky — NLES, Kindergarten. Richard and Milinda Liedtky’s request approval for their son, Ryan, who is a kindergarten student, to attend NLES as a transfer
