OBITUARIES

SARAH ZAHARI Sarah Zahari, 96, of 63300 Pecan Road, North Liberty, passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, in her home. She was born on July 21, 1895, in Monsonszentmiklos, Hungary and moved to North Liberty 61 years ago from South Bend. She married Michael Farago who preceded her in death in 1951. In 1954 she married Stephen Zahari who preceded her in death in 1962. Surviving are two daughter, Mary Livengood and Katherine Burket, both of North Liberty; two grandchildren and a brother, Frank Mazaros, of Hungary. A son, Frank Farago, preceded her in death in 1980. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the A.M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty, with Rev. D.O. Van Dyne officiating. Burial was in Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend. RUTH A. SMELTZER Ruth A. Smeltzer, 81, of 11199 E. Potawatomi Trail, Koontz Lake, passed away at 4:56 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, in Michiana Community Hospital, South Bend. She was bom on August 27, 1909, in Dayton, Mich. She lived in Walkerton for 20 years coming from Highland. As Ruth Lauver she married Roscoe M. Smeltzer on Jan. 5,1929, in Michigan City, who survives. She was employed by Indiana Bell Telephone Co. as an operator for 20 years. Also surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Love, of Jackson, Missouri; two sons. Dale of Orlando, Florida and Roscoe Jr., of Walkerton; 11 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren and a brother, John Lauver, of Buchanan, Michigan. A son, James, died earlier. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Swem Funeral Home, Buchanan, Mich. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. CLAIR (BUD] CRANMER Gair L. (Bud) Cranmer, 52, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., passed away in a Squatchie County, Tenn., hospital. He was employed by Reliable Heating and Air and was preceded in death by his father, William S. Cranmer. Surviving are his wife, Virgie Holcomb Cranmer, Soddy-Daisy; his mother, Mildred Cranmer, of Walkerton; four daughters, Vickie Yuppa and Karen Heck, both of Hixson, Dianah Mays, Sand Rock, Alabama and Sue Kirstien, of Dutton, Alabama; two sons, Richard Holcomb, Geveland, Tenn, and Sgt. Randy Cranmer, of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; a sister, Lois Zenger, Haddam, Kansas; 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, SoddyDaisy, Tenn, with graveside services at Bluff Cemetery, Section, Alabama. NORTH LIBERTY NEWS (continued from Page 4) Sheneman called on Charles and Mary Louise Sheneman last Tuesday afternoon. Mary is now back home from the hospital, she is weak, but is improving everyday. Their daughter, Nancy, who is a nurse in lowa, is here caring for her mother. Callers of Galdys Sheneman last Wednesday were her cousin, whom she hasn't seen for 39 years, Norma Jean Hamm, of Hillsdale, Mich., and her daughter, Gail and her husband, Alan Hurst, of Hampton, Connecticut. They are interested in finding out al! about Gail's grandfather, Roy Thayer, and all his family. Ray and Evelyn Stonebumer also came and after getting acquainted once again, Ray drove us to the Tyner Cemetery and showed them our grandparents grave, Moses and Mary Thayer. Also Ray’s brother, Chester Thayer, and his wife, Gara’s grave. From there we went to Plymouth and had dinner at Munday’s Restaurant and then we went to the Stoneburner’s home on Williams Street in Plymouth so they could see where they lived. We then came down 31 to the Fairmount Cemetery and saw more Thayers, Mannings and Mummeys, all relatives, were buried. We drove by our grandparents farm and also their home in Tyner where they lived for ten years. It is now the home of Cedric

and Mavis Shank. We had a wonderful day reminiscing, shared clippings and pictures and vowed now we would keep in touch. Our Aunt Lily, Norma’s mother, is 83, blind and still living. BRIDAL SHOWER GIVEN Twelve friends and relatives were guests at a bridal shower held so Miss Angela Boleen at the home of Ann and Julia Camblin, on Saturday, August 17. After a delicious salad luncheon, the guests played three games and enjoyed cake while the bride-to-be opened gifts. Relatives attending were Kathy Saylor and Mary Spier, mothers of the bride and groom; Laurie Haney, sister of the groom, and daughters, Jennifer and Kelsey; and Michelle Hollingsworth, cousin of the bride. Friends included Susan McCaffery, Kelly Dillon, Stacy Woody and Leanne Shuler. MORRIS REUNION ENJOYED The decendants of Bert and Lola Morris held their first Morris reunion, on Saturday, August 17, at the North Liberty Community Building. Robert and Edith Morris came from Sun City, Arizona. Robert is the youngest brother of Beryle Morris Minzey, of South Bend, who was the oldest relative present. An older sister, Bemita Metzger is in a nursing home. The yolmgest was four month old Dawn Morris, daughter of Mark and Kathy Morris, of South Bend. Ln all. four generations were represented. There were 67 relatives in attendance coming from Wakarusa, Elkhart, Muncie, Plymouth. Walkerton, North Liberty and Arizona. Memories, good food and children having fun.
