NORTH LIBERTY NEWS By Gladys Sheneman Maxine Worthington, Violet Wolff and Maxine Lonzo entertained Thursday afternoon at Hamilton Grove. The Lakeville United Methodist Church women were in charge of a birthday party for all those having a birthday during the month of June. Lovely refreshments were served by the ladies to all present. Joyce Richmond returned home Sunday after spending the week with her parents in Willimgton, Ohio. On Wednesday 27 relatives came to help her father celebrate his 85th birthday. Don and Shirley McDaniel, of Rolling Meadows. Illinois, and daughter and grandson Donald, spent Saturday night with Gail and Mae McDaniel. were their son Purtis and family, of Richmond, Indiana, and daughter Kathy and family and Mr. and Mrs. Glen McDaniel, of Ohio, who spent Sunday night and Monday els Monday was the graveside service for Fauntelle (McDaniel) Spellman’s husband, Dave, at Westlawn Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whitmer celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Saturday. Mr. Whitmer isn't feeling too good at this writing, but we do want to say congratulations and best wishes. Jeff Whitmer and family, of Urbana, Indiana, spent Sunday with his grandparents, Charles and Henrietta Whitmer. Thelma Holderman was very much surprised Sunday afternoon when her brothers Darrell and Delbert Berger arrived, along with her daughter, Judy and Doug Mangus and other relatives and frinds. A delicious meal was enjoyed by all. Happy birthday, Thelma. Entries for the 4th of July Parade at 2:00 p.m. are now coming in fast so sounds like North Liberty will have another good parade. So bring your lawn chair, find a shady spot and enjoy the parade. Hope you all have a Happy 4th, drive carefully and please don't drink and drive and do be careful with your fireworks. The community was shocked last Saturday morning to hear of the death of Dave Spellman. Our sympathy goes to his wife Fauntelle (McDaniel) Spellman, his stepson Dirk Wood and his two sisters, Lois Spellman, of South Bend and Lillian Stanifer, of Osceola. Graveside services and burial was Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Westlawn Cemetery. Sunday, July 7th, the North Liberty Church of Christ, with Pastor Charles Richmond, will be in charge of the 8:30 a.m. service for the campers out at Potato Creek State Park. You are welcome. On Saturday, July 6th, the Jumpstart Band’* will entertain on the lawn between the beach and boat rental area at 7:30 p.m. They play country, bluegrass and pop. There will also be fireworks at 9:00 p.m. so it sounds like an evening of fun for everyone. the North Liberty Park to find their daughter, Nancy Bell and family, had decided to have a 40th wedding anniversary surprise. They dressed them all up at 1:00 and Rev. Charles Richmond came and they renewed their marriage vows. When they were first married, Orra was in the service and she took a bus to Colorado to get married. They had music and the grandchildren, Angel and Tony Bell, walked up the isle with them. Over 120 relatives and friends were present with lots of food and a beautiful wedding cake. So congratulations and best wishes from all your friends. Bill and Ruth Bauman, of Lake Placid, Florida, who have been visiting relatives and friends here for the past month, were dinner guests Sunday of Cari and Barbara Zimmerlc along with Dorothy Fisher.
