FUN THINGS FOR CHILDREN TO DO THIS SUMMER This summer bring your children to the Walkerton Public Library to keep them busy. The library is offering two summer programs for children. The first is the summer reading program. This year’s theme is “Read Around the World." Hopefully by reading more children will gain a better understanding of other people and places around the world. For every five books children read they will receive a orize. (Up to twenty books). The first prize is a flag on the bulletin board with the child's name and a free coupon from Burger King good for a cheeseburger, fries and a soft drink. After ten books the children receive a candy bar with a different countries flag and a sticker. For the third prize children get a

foreign language sticker and a “watch". And for the final prize a Super Reader Award certificate is given. Chidlren who read over twenty books can add cities to the world flag. At the end of the summer we will count all the “cities" to see how many books have been read. A list of all the children who finished at least five books will be put in the newspaper. The second summer porgram is the "Summer Movie Program." Every Friday except July sth the library will show a movie. Next week, July 12, the movie will be Cricket in Times Square and Bris--1 tielip and Dragon Stew. Jeff and Shawn Jones, of Walkerton, are the proud parents of a son, born on June 29, at 11:09 p.m. He has been named Travis Alan. He weighed six pounds and 15 ounces and was 21 inches long. Grandparents are Phyllis Phol, of North Liberty, and Burton and Shirley Jones, of Three Rivers, Michigan. Great-grandparents are Loma Jones, of Three Rivers and Robert Mitchell, of Wayland, Michigan. God-parents are Shannon Pohl, of Walkerton, and Julie Four a, of Three Rivers.

LYNN UMBER RECEIVES 32 DEGREE M Lynn A. Umber, pictured above, of Walkerton and Richard C. Hamilton, of North Liberty, were conferred the 32nd Degree at the 171st Convocation of the Ancient Accepted Scottish rite of the Valley of South Bend, recently. 59 new members representing 32 lodges in Indiana and six out of state from Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan and Virginia received the degree. The convocation was named in honor of the DI. Arthur L. May, 33 degree of South Bend. Mr. May was associated with the law firm of May, Oberfell, Lorber and Associates, one of the oldest law firms in South Bend. Mr. Umber was also elected as a vice-president.

SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE MOVES The Social Security Administration office in South Bend which serves St. Joseph, Marshall and Fulton Counties has moved and is now at 425 S. Main St. The new, one story building has been leased for five years and is on the west side of Main St. half-way between Western Ave. and Monroe St. This location is one block west of the main South Bend Post Office. There is free, off-street parking in front of the office and the parking, office and restroom areas are fully accessible to the handicapped. Several Transpo bus routes pass by the new address and stop within */j block. Office hours will remain 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except for national holidays.
