school cook prepared with a flare. The menu included turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, buttered carrots, cake and ice cream. Mrs. Donna Beasley made and decorated the cake in the school colors green and white. After lunch, sixth grader Michael Goldt was master of ceremonies for a carefully executed program. Sixth grader Christy Schmeltz was the keynote speaker who reminded the students of Father Yast’s marvelous sense of humor as well as his care and instruction each Thursday in school and each Friday at the school Mass. The entire student body offered their singing of "Pass It On” as a tribute to their pastor. The first and second graders reversed roles with Father Yast by offering him an Irish blessing. Third and fourth graders presented him with an acrostic that included a rich description of their pastor. Fifth and sixth graders read the cinquains they wrote in his honor. Spokesman Anton Braun presented Father Yast with a gift certificate from all the families of the school. Cassie Walter, sixth grade spokesperson for the students, presented Father Yast with the "Good Shepherd Award”. Second grader Lee Cole offered Father Yast a framed certificate naming him in this award. Fourth grader Kristi Klinedinst presented him a shepherd’s staff as a sign of his tribute. The staff was handmade by parishioner David Kindt, father of one of St. Patrick School’s alumni. The luncheon ended with the students’ singing a final blessing taken from Leviticus: The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord lift his countenance upon you. And give you peace, and give you peace. The Lord make his face to shine upon you. And be gracious unto you, be gracious, the Lord be gracious, gracious unto you. Amen.
