NORTH LIBERTY NEWS By Gladys Sheneman About forty volunteers of Miller’s Merry Manor enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner Tuesday evening in the dining room at Miller's. Helen Holland won the door prize, which was a beautiful ceramic egg. given by Jane O'Keefe. All were presented lovely volunteer magnets and Evedine Platz sang ‘‘Amazing Grace” accompanied on the piano by Madelyn Nelson. Some new volunteers were present who recently joined the group. The next get together will be in July. Our sympathy goes the the Mary ( .McEndafer family. She leaves 5 daughters, 8 sons, 47 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Before moving from the North Liberty area, they raised their family on State Road 4 and were my next door neighbors when I lived out there. Around 150 children, along with their parents, gathered at the North Liberty Park on Saturday where the children all enjoyed the Easter egg hunt. What a sight to behold when they gave them the signal to go hunt. Many found plastic eggs with money and the American Legion Post 365 had colored sixty dozen eggs for the egg hunt. All then went to the American Legion where they, along with their parents, were served hot dogs, potato chips and a soft drink. It was a fun day for everyone who

attended and thanks to the American Legion for making it all possible. The North Lbierty Nutrition Site will be celebrating their 15th anniversary on April 15. There will be some special guests and other surprises also. Easter dinner guests of Gene and Norma Patrick were Gladys Sheneman. Greg Shoemaker, Chris Holderbaum, Tammy Stull and son. Brandon. At the Church of Christ, about 200 attended the Easter Sunrise Service hosted by Daybreak, which was very inspiring. Walt Lentine, Debbie Schumann. Kent Bergland and Ted and Cindy Woolet are the singers. Sherri Lentine narrated during the service. A continental breakfast followed in the family center. A record crowd of 621 was present for the morning worship Easter Service at the Church of Christ. A mini-cantata by the adult choir, with Wilda Henry as director was given at the opening of the service after which an Easter sermonette was given by Pastor Charles Richmond. Many church families gathered at their homes with their children who had come home for Easter. Curtis and Cathy McDaniel and sons spent the weekend with Gail and Mae McDaniel. Carol Sundin and Pearl McFay, of Plymouth, spent Easter with Lola Pavey. Aletha Croy, Marion and Anne Carpenter and son, Dustin, were Easter guests of Steve and Joan Rudynski and Tim. Trobaugh had a hole-in-one on the fourth hole at Leisure Lakes Golf & Country Club. Margie was golfing in a scramble with Art and Joan Schmeltz, Mr. and Mrs. Gordan Georges and David Trobaugh. Following the golf outing Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Briggs joined the group at the Schmeltz home for a cook out. At the ladies club championship at Lesiure Lakes Country Club, in Lake Placid, Florida, Joan Schmeltz won low net in ‘‘B” flight. Joan was also closest to the pin on the eighth hole and Margaret DeMyer, of Walkerton, won low gross in "C” flight. Margie and David Trobaugh and Bill and Shirley Limerick were evening guests of Bob and Phyllis Lute, in Sebring, Florida. In the men's championship golf tournament, Art Schmeltz, of Walkerton, won low net in the "A” flight. Easter dinner was enjoyed by Becky and Du Wayne Burch and Todd, Karen, Nathan and Eric Burch at the home of Dwight and Pauline Burch. Eric Todd was baptised during the morning worship service at the North Liberty United Methodist Church. Easter Sunday the following got together and had dinner at Dot’s Restaurant, in Sebring, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fair, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Wynn, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Limerick, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lute and Mr. and Mrs. David Trobaugh. They all said farewell until next fall. Easter Sunday evening dinner guests of June Weber were Bruce, Wendy, Carolyn and Marjorie Weber, Becky and Du Wayne Burch, Todd, Karen, Nathan and Eric Burch and Tracey and Tom Duff. ENGAGED Mr. and Mrs. Richard Warner, of 604 South Sylvia Dr., North Liberty, and Mr. James Warner, of 606 S. Liberty Street, Elgin, 111. would like to announce the engagement of their daughter, Julie Ann Warner, of North Liberty, to Anthony Kane Bontrager, of Goshen. Anthony is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bontrager, Jr., of 1327 E. Reynolds Street, Goshen. An August 24 wedding is planned at the United Methodist Church, of North Liberty. REAL SERVICES NEWS Hopefully spring weather will soon arrive. A lot of fun things have been happening at our site and more special things to come real soon. We had a fun St. Patrick’s Day program with Madelyn Nelson at the piano and Charles Myers playing the banjo. We always enjoy the songs they bring us. Also Gladys Sheneman joined in with her washboard. Gizella Desits and Kate Hevel were chosen to be the best dressed in green for that day. The Tri Kappa had the second graders make Easter baskets for each person filled with an Easter bunny they made and other goodies. They also taped songs for us as they could not come because of the weather. Thanks to Patty Fisher and Donna Beasley and their children for bringing these baskets to the people. kindness shown them. Our snowbirds are returning and we are always glad to see them coming back to us. We helped Bob Foresman celebrate his birthday. He brought ice cream for everyone. April 15 will be the North Liberty site's 15th anniversary. We will be having a celebration on that day and hope a lot of our friends can come. Maybe some of you that haven't been able to come recently can come and help us all to celebrate. PORK PRODUCERS OFFERING SCHOLARSHIP The Marshall County Pork Producers will again be awarding a SSOO scholarship to a Marshall County students who has successfully completed at least one year of college and plans to use his or her education in away that will benefit agriculture. Students do not need to be involved in the production of pork to apply for the scholarship. Application forms arc available in the Marshall County Extension office. Room 304 in the County Building. The completed form must be returned to the extension office by June Ist. SKILLS CLINICS COMING TO PLYMOUTH A Skills Ginic and Umpires & Coaches Ginic will be held the first weekend in May for all players, coaches and parents and umpires. Mary Connor, commissioner of Jr. Olympic Softball for the A.S.A. will be hosting these clinics here in Plymouth.
