REAL SERVICES NEWS WALKERTON We celebrated our March birthdays and Easter, only two had birthdays, Grace Pugsley and Art Kreibiel. We really enjoyed Florence Seekings and Verle Haag, who played the guitar and sang for us. We had a very enjoyable time and hope Florence and Verle will come back real soon. On Wednesday we celebrated good nutrition day, every site in Indiana celebrated this and we all enjoyed the same nutritious meal. The REAL Services furnished one item from each food group and we drew for the items. The lucky winners were Dora Davis, John Lemert, Martha Mull and Veryl Wathen. Don’t forget, we’ll be playing bingo every Tuesday after dinner, that is one of our favorite past times. We also enjoy our weekly Friday sing-a-long. We welcome one and all to the site, if you are 60 years old or older, call in to the site at 586-7600 the day before you plan to attend, you and all of us will be glad you did. SENIOR CITIZENS BOWLING NEWS With the Senior Bowlers season drawing to a close on April 10, the Seniors were still out in good numbers this past week. Although the pins seemed to have “square" bottoms and a will of their own to remain upright, there was good competition in both the ladies and gents groups. For the Ladies, the high scratch game was Vollie Verkinder's 161, with Esther Devault and Norine Divine tied for second place with 158. Mildred McKesson’s 140 game placed third. The high handicap game was Verkinder’s 229, with Divine just topping Devault, as they recorded 210 and 209, respectively. High series total was Devault's 447, followed by Divine’s 436 and Verkinder’s
416 totals. Very good competition, ladies! The Gents saw Barney Hiester on a nice roll again this week. His 203 high scratch game set the pace for the group. Mel Divine posted a 196 game, closely followed by Eli Sobat's 189. High handicap game was Heister’s 245, with Divine and Sobat tied for second place with 227. Marion Anderson placed third with 218. High series total was Anderson’s 528, topping Hiester's 522 and Divine’s 507. Not “shabby" competition, gents! Remember, April 10 will be the seniors last day of the bowling season. You all come out and close the season with the senior bowlers and start your spring out with fun and exercise! R.E.A.L. SERVICES NUTRITION PROGRAM N.L. Laura Hamman St Son Jack St Lois Hamman George St Linda Mammon & Family Terry Dipert St Girls Jack St Bev Hamman St Family I wish to most sincerely thank the many people of the Walkerton area who showed their concern for me during my many months in the hospitals, both in South Bend and in Houston, Texas. I know that it is largely due to your many prayers on my behalf, and the wonderful grace of God, that 1 owe my life. I am most grateful. Many people that I did not even know before my hospitalizations have now earned a very special place in my heart. I have improved some but I am not well yet and would appreciate a continuing place in your prayer lists. Again let me thank you for your manifold kindnesses. Most sincerely, Rev. Offered by the office of adult and continuing education, the completion porgram is aimed for working adults who have had some previous college. Qualifying adults can earn a bachelor's degree • in Management of Human Resources in approximately one year by attending class once a week, either in the evening or on Saturday morning. Interested persons are invited and encouraged to attend a free MHR information meeting Tuesday, April 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the board room of the Bowen Library located on campus. Representatives of the program will present a complete overview of the MHR program, conduct a question and answer session, and discuss payment programs and financial aid. Attendees also are encouraged to bring with them their college records, if available. Individual academic evaluations will be conducted following the meeting for those who are able to bring their academic records. To make a reservation for the information meeting or to receive more information about the MHR degree completion program offered by Bethel College, call the Bethel College office of adult and continuing education at 219-257-3351 or 1-800-422-4251. Taxes are said to be a method used by the government to artificially induce the rainy day everybody's been saving for.
