OBITUARIES
FRANK HORNUNG Frank Hornung, 95, of Frankfort Nursing Home, Frankfort, DL, passed away on Wed., March 6, at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital, Olympia Fields, BL, after an extended illness. He was born on Feb. 12, 1896, in Wanatah to Frank and Margaret (Meyers) Hornung and worked as a carpenter. He married Neola Harris, who survives. Also surviving are a sister, Dorthy "Dottie” Wolfe, of Walkerton. Three sisters and four brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home with Father Robert Yast, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton.
GRACE PEARL CUNNINGHAM Grace Pearl Cunningham, 84, of Route 1, Elnora, IN, passed away at 10:50 p.m., on Friday, March 8, at Davis County Hospital. She was born on July 22, 1906, in Davis County to George and Florence (Shake) Cunningham. She taught school for 40 years at Michigan City, Walkerton and Broad Ripple, in Indianapolis. Surviving are three sisters, Zoa Wallen, of Plantation, Fla.; Susie Johnson and Ava Cunningham, both of Indianapolis. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at Elnora United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Jensen officiating, followed with burial in Walnut Hill Cemetery, in Oden. She was a member of the Brookside United Methodist Church, Indianapolis; Indiana State Teachers Association and the National Retired Teachers Association. Arrangements were made by the Poindexter & Son Funeral Home, Oden, Indiana. MERRILL D. WHITMER Merrill D. Whitmer, 93. of 202 S. Main Street, North Liberty, passed away at 12:45 p.m., on Wednesday, March 6, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton. He was born on Nov. 15, 1897, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. He married Grace L. Sheneman, on Oct. 18, 1918, in South Bend, who preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 1978. He retired as a contractor carpenter and part owner of the former Whitmer Lumber Co. Surviving are three daughters, Margaret Davis and Agnes Gorby, both of North Liberty and Martha Albert, of Walkerton; a son, John, of North Liberty; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother Paul, of Avon Park, Fla. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the North Liberty of the Brethren, of which he was a member, with Rev. Larry Dentler, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. The A.M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty, was in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. GOLDIE M. McNEAL Goldie M. McNeal, 73, of 2401 Michigan Road, Plymouth, passed away at 1:40 a.m., on Wednesday, March 6, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident last year. She was born on Dec. 14, 1917, in Marshal] County and was a lifelong area resident. She married Woodward W. McNeal on August 7, 1936, at Koontz Lake, who preceded her in death on Dec. 13. 1983. Surviving are two daughters. Shirley Laßere, of Walkerton and Caroline Ward, of Plymouth; five sons, Melvin M., of Walkerton, Richard W., of Argos, and Gene A., Terry L. and Tony A., all of Plymouth; 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donny Huffer, of Tyner and Dorothy Billings, of Donaldson and three brothers, Bob Cudney, of Plainville, Jesse Cudney, of Plymouth and Karl Cudney, of Dallas. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Plymouth, with burial in New Oak Cemetery, Plymouth.

I just hope I didn’t forget anyone. 0, yes, I cannot forget Gary Smith and his mother, they were there at the start and have been since. Also the class of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Krannenberg from the First Baptist Church who served us Sunday dinner the third of March. For those young people, thank you, it was a very good meal. The many times 1 watched you bowl, the proms you and mom went to and danced so many dances. The tears you shed when Duff left for the Army or when you walked me down the aisle. The smile on your face and the twinkle in your eye when each one of your grandchildren were bom. Dad, you /night be physically gone but 1 feel you with me every day.
