MARRIED On Saturday Feb. 2nd, Dr. K. Ronald Stedman, formerly of North Liberty, was united in marriage at the First English Lutheran Church, on Ireland Road, in South Bend, to the former Martina Eadei, of 2515 Sampson, South Bend. Approximately 25 guests were in attendance for the 11:00 a m. nuptials. Dr. Stedman is a self-employed
chiropractic physician, in South Bend, and his bride is his chiropractic assistant. They will reside at the Sampson Street address. ENGAGED Mrs. William Ochs would like to announce the engagement of her son, Craig W. Ochs, of Walkerton to Kim R. Palmer, of South Bend. Kim is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kent R. Palmer, of Lakeville. Craig is employed by Herrman & Goetz, Inc., of South Bend. Kim is employed by St. Joseph Medical Center as a registered nurse. An April 20th wedding is planned at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, in South Bend. RETIRES

STEDMAN PLAYING SECOND BASE Chris Stedman, North Liberty, freshman at Saint Joseph’s College, Rensselaer, is a second base candidate for the baseball team. Chris has a 308 batting average and had four runs batted in last fall. Saint Joe opened its season on Sat., March 2, with a series of 12 games during an eight-day spring trip to Cocoa and Orlando, Florida. SAINTS BASKETBALL NEWS On Thursday, Feb. 28, St. Patrick’s girls basketball team traveled across town to the Walkerton Elementary and came away with an exciting 10-1 win. M. Vink, C. Walters and A. Smith all had two points each and E. Davidson again led the Saints with four points. Jessica Cable made a free throw for the Wildcats. All the girls played with great enthusiasm and skill. North Liberty girls basketball team hosted two games with the girls from St. Pat’s, the week of Feb. 18. C. Walters, J. Kaminski each had two points and E. David »on had 10 points to help the Saints to a 14-5 win in the first game on Monday. In the second game on Thursday the Saints again played a spec tacular game with Elaine Davidson hitting eight baskets in a ven short playing time. M Vink. C. Schmeltz and Jo Hathaway each had two points to help the Saints to a 22-4 win.

TWO RESIDENTS ON BETHEL’S TEAM Scott Reese, a lefthander and Will Hostrawser, catcher, are among the team members of Bethel College baseball team. Reese is a pitcher and is an excellent defensive first basemen. according to coach Dick Patterson. The Pilots opened their season Monday against Clearwater Christian. in Lake Wales. Florida. The Pilots will host the NCCAA District IV playoffs on April 18-20 and for the fourth year the Pilots will host the NCCAA National Baseball Tournament on May 2-4 with games played at both Bethel College and Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium, in South Bend. TANDY TECH SCHOLARS Tandy Technology Scholars, a program to recognize academic excellence, especially in the areas of mathematics, science and com puter science, award winners were announced on Wednesday, March 6. Area students receiving certificates are James E. Houser, Byron Craft, Chris Paschen and Jim Seiders from John Glenn High School.
