Thirty-eight teams competed from the area. Urey teams placed 7th and Bth overall. At the end of five rounds of chess, both teams had 3 match points and 13 wins. Due to the tie break system, Urey’s B team beat Urey’s A team and qualified for the state tournament held in Terre Haute. The B team consists of captain, Steven Savoie, B.J. Morgan, Nick Medich, Rusty Young and Joe Pletcher. The A Team members are captain Brian Lyle, Al Gark, David Guseilla, and Jason Pippenger. Al Gark had a perfect score of 5-0 for the day. The A Team is an alternate for the state tournament. The teams are coached by Mrs. Lisa Cox.
