Thirty-eight teams competed from the area. Urey teams placed 7th and Bth overall. At the end of five rounds of chess, both teams had 3 match points and 13 wins. Due to the tie break system, Urey’s B team beat Urey’s A team and qualified for the state tournament held in Terre Haute. The B team consists of captain, Steven Savoie, B.J. Morgan, Nick Medich, Rusty Young and Joe Pletcher. The A Team members are captain Brian Lyle, Al Gark, David Guseilla, and Jason Pippenger. Al Gark had a perfect score of 5-0 for the day. The A Team is an alternate for the state tournament. The teams are coached by Mrs. Lisa Cox. NOTICE Hostesses for the Koontz Lake Conservation Gub on Saturday, March 9th, will be Ann and Gloria Labno.
