BMV OFFERS NEW SPECIAL RECOGNITION LICENSE PLATES Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Gilbert L. Holmes today announced the BMV will be offering four new special recognition license plates for 1991. Disabled American Veterans, Purple Heart recipients and National Guard members are among the groups that the BMV already offers special recognition plates to. Additional groups to be added for 1991, are Pearl harbor Survivors and Indiana Guard Reserves which will be available February 25, U.S. Reserve Armed Forces and Volunteer Firefighters plates will be available on March 25. To obtain these plates, group members must complete the appropriate form which can only be obtained from the group's authorized representative. The form must be presented at the license branch located in each county seat. "We are making these special recognition plates available to members of these elite groups to acknowledge their outstanding contributions as former servicemen in the Indiana Guard, Pearl Harbor and for their significant volunteer service as reservists and volunteer firefighters, each in their own way, serve to guarantee our safety and freedom,’’ stated Commissioner Holmes. Plates may be purchased for passenger cars, RV’s and trucks size 7,9, 11. There is a special recognition plate fee of SIO.OO to be collected at the time of registration.
