Mrs. Huffstetter’s third grade Reading class presented the play “The Wizard of Oz” to the kindergarten through fourth graders during February. Thursday, Feb. 21, was a special performance for family and friends of the cast. For the past month these industrious pupils have practiced their lines, perfected their acting skills, and turned in an excellent performance. We are grateful to Mrs. Setnor for helping all the third grade students create some beautiful scenery for our play; to Mrs. Bowers for helping us sing and record the sonas and to all the parents for using their ingenuity and talent in putting together our costumes. St. Pat’s was led by Elaine Davidson with eight points followed by C. Kissinger. A. Smith and A. Goldt with two points each. Holly Legge made the Wildcats only basket.

They sing in four different languages, have competed in Europe and will perform across the United States this year. 4-H TRACTOR A GARDEN TRACTOR PROGRAM Enrollment is being taken for the 1991 St. Joseph County 4-H Tractor program. Youth who will be at least 10 years of age and who will not exceed 19 years of age in 1991 are eligible to enroll. The first of four meetings will be held, starting March 12, in the Esther Singer Building at the 4-H Fairgrounds, (comer of Jackson and Ironwood Roads). The tractor program is designed to help young people better understand tractors, from safety, mower safety, and mechanical workings. The project will teach the basics of engine mechanics and safety. There will be several outside speakers, films, and special activities. Anyone interested should call the Cooperative Extension Office of 284-9604 and leave their name and address if they will not be able to attend the first meeting.
