Congratulations TO THE JOHN GLENN BAND STUDENTS FOR RECEIVING A FIRST DIVISION RATING AT SOLO AND ENSEMBLE CONTEST AND ADVANCING TO THE STATE COMPETITION ON FEBRUARY 16 JAMIE MCCOOL JEFF PONTIUS ADAM JACOB HEATHER VANWECHEL DONNA ROSS TIM PLETCHER THE PLASTIC YEARS They pass so quickly, the days of youth. And the children change so fast, And soon they harden in the mold, And the plastic years are past. Then shape their lives while they are young. This be our prayer, our aim. That every child we meet shall bear The imprint of HIS name. This, I believe is the expression of love that six of us daring adults had for the 28 active 4-6 graders during an overnight retreat at Michaiana Christian Service Camp. We had a fabulous time learning about the committment we should have towards God and the use of our tongues as Christians, then we hit the slopes with our inner-tubes and sleds. There were a few bruised bodies among the kids and three mangled and worn out men who tried to keep up with these "over active” kids, but thanks be to God that we as parents and adults have such a great and honorable responsibility in molding and training the children that God has placed in our car for the time. TWO PIANO RECITALS HELD Mrs. Charles Richmond, of North Liberty, presented her students in recital, recently, at the North Liberty Church of Christ, on the pianoforte, organ and electronic keyboards. Participating in the first recital were Erin Shindiedecker, Johnny Rotruck, Amanda Rotruck. Emily Homer. Erin Homer, Jennifer Lowry, Philip Strahm, Joy Hynes. Timothy Larsen, Elliott Whitmer. Elaina Denham. Jennifer Colanese, Beth Barker. Korey Whitmer. Rebecca Strahm and Venessa Whitmer. In the second recital at 7:00 p.m participating were Lisa Ferency. Brenda Meyer, Sam Spencer, Eric Gavwell, Alisan Vanlue, Paul Palicki, Jennifer Urgonski. Aaron Meyer. Frankie Engle, Kristi Flaugher. Rachel Peterson. Jason Palicki. Benji Woolet, Aaron Palicki. Tara Beringer, Katie Miller, Susan Napier, Ben Long. Erin Doyle, Jenny Riddle, Rachel Cole, Gail Ferency. Sheri Fraser, Bryan Urgonski. Robin Rimbaugh. Kim Ruby, Rebakah Ebersole. Joleen Nalepinski, KJ. Werwas. Melanie Werwas, Kimberly Vail. Daniel Fox, Matthew Dyer. Lisa Noetzel, Anthony Palicki. Beth Gavwell, Angie Ruby and Richard Kendall. Kendall placed first in the state of Indiana and first in the Midwest states in the Word of Life Com petition, piano division, this past year. This was his second time to place first. A born loser: Someone who get a paper cut from a get well card. Have you noticed that as soon as you find the key to success — they change the locks?
