Wells Aluminum Corporation held it's Service Awards Banquet for employees with 5 year increments of service on Saturday, November 10. at the Balloon Wurks Restaurant, in Plymouth. There were a total of 25 recipients with a total of 460 years of service. YULETIDE DINNER ENJOYED A salad bar luncheon was served Wednesday, Dec. 12, for members of the Johnson Twp. Extension Homemakers Cub at the Community Building. Annette Hesters, Gertrude Thomas and Alta Bowers were hostesses. Decorations were festive with a

decorated tree and table centerpieces. Following a gift exchange door prizes were awarded to Bernadette Davis. Isabelle Albertson and Velma Stahly. Catherine Hostetler presided at a -brief meeting and introudeed Mrs. David from Walkerton and Margreta Bowers of Hamlet as guests. Ruth Cilery and Laura Malstaff were honored with the birthday song. Members were reminded there would be no meeting in January' with the next meeting at 1:30 p.m., on February 20. CHRISTMAS DINNER PARTY ENJOYED Festive Christmas decorations filled the Walkerton Community Building as members of the Better Homes Extension Homemakers Club hosted a cooperative supper, on Monday, Dec. 10. Taped holiday music filled the room throughout the evening. The president. Alda Ray. read a delightful parody to "The Night Before Christmas." Mary Hahn offered prayer. A bountiful meal was served by the club officers including Mrs. Ray, Norma Eddinger, Nancy Stickley and Marty Malstaff. Prizes were won by everyone present during bingo and Christmas gifts were exchanged. Game prizes were won by Mrs. Ray and Jenny Marshall, a guest. The pointsettia plant was awarded to Martha Mull. it was announced 10 members and five guests painted a sweatshin at the Nov. meeting at the home of Mary Hahn. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28 at the home of Mary Lou Hiatt. Guests are always welcome as potential members. Please bring an item for show and tell. TO PRESENT CANTATA North Liberty Chruch of Christ choir will present a Christmas Cantata, entitled "King Forever," by Joe E. Parks. We invite you to come and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through music and the spoken word. The cantata will be followed by an abbreviated service and message by Charles Richmond, minister. INDIANA STATE POUCE CONDUCT CHECKPOINTS The Indiana State Police will conduct sobriety checkpoints throughout the holiday travel period which includes Christmas and New Year’s Day. These checkpoints will be a part of an effort to reduce the number of drunk drivers on Indiana roads as well as to ensure the safest travel possible. Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) will be in effect over this travel period providing federal funds for Troopers working days off. The Indiana Department of Transportation Division of Traffic Safety predicts seven fatalities will occur over Christmas weekend which begins at 6 p.m., December 21, and continues until midnight, December 25. The prediction for the New Year’s weekend is for six fatalities possible from 6 p.m., December 28, and continuing until midnight. January 1. These holidays have been associated with many parties in the past and the Indiana State Police encourages everyone to not dnnk and drive and designate a driver who will not consume alcoholic beverages. Check the weather forecasts constantly for changes in the weather. Indiana weather can change quickly and travelers must allow extra time to reach their destinations, especially during high-volume holiday traffic periods. Superintendent Lloyd R.
