CHRISTMAS AT MAPLE GROVE CHURCH A Christmas Cantata. "Christmas Rhapsody," will be presented Sunday. December 16, at Maple Grove United Methodist Church at 9:00 a.m. Written by Don Wyrtzen and Phil and Lynne Browner, the cantata is described as a "Coral Christmas Card Colection." The Maple Grove Chancel Choir is under the direction of Mary Ann Gradeless and is accompanied by Lesa Piech. Narration will be by Michael Shultz, and the children of the church will also be singing a portion of the cantata. Soloists will be Wendy Weber. Amy Otto, Gunter Kison, Carol Saltzgaber and Gaylord Saltzgaber. There will also be a Christmas baptism during the worship service. 22, a special program by the children of the church on Sunday morning, December 23, and a Christmas Eve service on Monday, December 24, at 4:00 p.m. The Christmas Eve service will feature much singing of carols by the congregation, and a candlelight worship with special solo by Gunter Kison, singing "Silent Night, Holy Night" in his native language of German. Special music will also be given by Wendy Weber. The children of the church, under the leadership of Carolyn S. Elmore, director of music ministries, Amy Elmore Pultz, her assistant, are presenting the production. speaker at the St. Joseph County Republic Women's Christmas luncheon, held on Saturday, Dec 8, at Republican Headquarters, in South Bend. She spoke on her life in Nigera and had a display of artifacts, crafts and clothing. Mrs. Oke is a school teacher at the Walkerton Elementary School. She lives with her family, in Walkerton. The luncheon was catered by Personalized Caterers, of New Carlisle. Santa’s elf gave out Christmas presents and door prizes. Mrs. Myrna Daube, of Walkerton and Mrs. Jane Dearing, of North Liberty, were co-chairman.
