Building. After dinner was served. David Behr of the Walkerton Industrial Fund presented the Chamber's Civic Improvement Awards and the Citizen of the Year Awards. Due to the numerous nominations for the awards, the Civic Improvement Awards were given in four categories. Ross Engineering and Machine Com-

pany won the industrial category for their new facility in the Industrial Park Northeast; Tyler Village Apartments won the residential category for the new apartment complex; The Town of Walkerton won the public category for installing new sidewalks along Washington Street for the elementary school; and Century 21 Savoie and Associates won the

commercial category for their new offices. Other nominees for the Civic Improvement Award were: Welco Truck Stop for their new convenience store; Ray and Kenny’s SuperValu for their new exterior improvements; Modern Door Company for their 40,000 square foot addition; The Virginia Street Apartment Building Rehabilitation by Branson Hiatt; and the renovation of 314 Roosevelt Road by Leo Savoie. The Citizen of the Year Award was given to two individuals that showed, in the opinion of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, an outstanding level of care and dedication to the people of Walkerton. The winners were Greg Williams of the Walkerton Town Council and Karol Jackson of the Walkerton Ambulance Service. Other nominees for the Citizen of the Year Award were Sharon Klinedinst of the Walkerton Community Choir, Myrna Daube of the Walkerton License Bureau, Beverly Burdick of Ray and Kenny's SuperValu, Bob Urbin of the W'alkerton Independent News, and John McGovern of the Town of Walkerton. Leo Savoie, president of the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the large crowd to the dinner dance and discussed the goals reached and the services provided by the Chamber. He also explained that the Chamber needs the support of the community during its annual membership drive, since this provides the income for the many services provided by the Chamber during the year. The Chamber also gave away 13 table centerpeices as door prizes and gave poinsettias to all the award winners. The center-

Leo Mahoney also took the opportunity to publicly thank Myrna Daube for her 22 years of service at the Walkerton Licence Bureau. Myrna will be retiring on December 31 st this year. During the breaks that the Roger Kronk Band took during the evening, the Win Coupon Book drawing boxes were opened and winners pulled and announced. This years Win Coupon Book featured nine prizes that were awarded to the following people: Dennis E. Cripe, $12,000 car from Mahoney Chevrolet; Pat Baughman, SIOO cash from May, Oberfell and Lorber; Marie Kerchaert, SIOO microwave from Miller's Merry Manor; Rick Louzon, SIOO groceries from Ray & Kenny's; Tom McMahon, SSO cash from M.J. UREY BASKETBALL NEWS The Urey 7th grade basketball team dropped their second game of the season with a 43-32 defeat by Culver. Leading the scoring for the Falcons was Brian Lyle with 15, Steve Savoie with 8 along with Jason Knepp chipping in with 6. The loss drops the Falcons record to 3-2 for the season. Pour vanilla on a bit of cotton and put it in the refrigerator to eliminate unpleasant odors there.
