People came for miles, many from Illinois, to purchase their Christmas tree, with most of them enjoying cutting their own tree with their children. Many came for the first time, but one lady on Friday had been coming for 39 years, what a tradition, as many are making it a tradition to come every year with their family. How many of you old timers who use to own a Model A or a Model T can remember back in November, 1923, when gas was only 16 cents a gallon because there was so much crude oil. What a difference today, maybe the good old days were the best. Just received word that Helen Neidlinger lost her brother, Glendon Morse, with a heart attack. So please remember Helen, also Ruth Cullar who needs our prayers and also Helen Podgodzinski, who is now back home recovering from a recent stay in the LaPorte Hospital. They spent eleven days and nights enjoying the beauty of the islands. Highlights of their tour were a visit to the beautiful Waimea Canyon, a boat ride to the Fem Grotto and a Hawaiian Luau on the island of Kauai. The next morning Betty and Ruth attended the ceremony of the preparation of the roasting of a pig for the next evenings Luau. On the island of Oahu the beautiful pagentry on the water and in the open theatre at the Polynesian Culture Center, the program by the University of Hawaii Brass Band and the tour into the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor will long be remembered. We visited the International Market Place, walked into the Thurston Lava Tube, toured the beautiful Nani Mau Gardens, visited a macademia nut orchard and factory where we watched the nuts being hand sorted, chocolate coated and hand packaged, visited a pineapple plantation then the Dole factory where we watched the processing of pineapple for canning. Maui island will long be remembered for the small size bus tour of 165 miles around Mount Haleakala with 617 turns many of them hairpin turns. The road was very rough and narrow. There were stops to see beautiful waterfalls, surfers, and at the national park some hiked the trails. Ruth went to see the famous Seven Pools. One Sunday we held a worship service on the beach at Kona and the second Sunday in a hotel room on the island of Maui. For all the
beauty of God's handiwork and safe travel we did indeed give Him thanks. FALCONS FALL TO PLYMOUTH The Urey eighth grade boys’ basketball team traveled to Plymouth Tuesday and w’ere handed their first setback of the young season, 39-28. The Falcons are now 1-1 on the year while Plymouth
