NORTH LIBERTY NEWS By Gladys Sheneman I received a note from former North Liberty residents, Kenneth and Leona Holderreads, who now live in Goshen. They have been visiting the Harold McGwins in Florida, this past mouth. On Sunday they all attended church at the Landa Church of the Brethren, where they were surprised to meet Bill and Ruth Bauman and Dave and Marge Trobaugh, both formerly of North Liberty, who now make their home year around in Florida. So they all enjoyed a mini-reunion together. Bill and Becki Wines, of Chesapeake, Ohio, spent Friday night with Gladys Sheneman, as they were both tn the wedding on Saturday of Jill Richmond and Scott Lucas. Well, I am very happy to report that the firemen informed me that they are working to install a noon siren again in the near future. They will also blow the siren in case of a tornado, so that is good news, thanks to our firemen. Many of you will remember Sam and Becky Huston, as they lived on Road 4, west of North Liberty about one mile out of town. Then they sold out and moved to Florida. They came back to see Sam’s mother, Mary Huston, in South Bead and to attend the wedding of JiE Richmond to Scott Lucas Sat- - urday, at the Church of Christ. Sam is a photgrapher and he took pictures of the wedding. Stefanie Bigelow, of Portland, Oregon, and Lois Love, of Cincinati, both girls who attend Cincinati Bible College were overnight guest Friday and Saturday of Aletha Croy, as they were also in Jill Richmond’s wedding. Don’t forget, November 6th will be our Thanksgiving dinner for the Retired JlMghbonu and. JFriends^. at the PinaCree^Qsumh.. ArleneCohee is in charge of the program. Wilber Stump, of Fort Wayne, will show slides of one of his trips. You are welcome to attend.

Travis and Joan Holmes and son, Michael, and friend, Chris Bennet, spent the weekend in Park Forest, Illinois at the home of their daughter, Kari and husband, Jay Williams. Dorothy Reed and Pearl Newcomb spent the weekend in Michigan, where they spent Saturday with Dick and Lillian Reed, in Three Oaks and on Sunday, they went to Marshall, wher they visited their granddaughter, Kay Wessink. You are invited to the annual open house on Nov. 2, 3 A 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day at the Christmas Shop, located on Tyler Road. Their theme this year is Holiday Visions. Guess what, even Santa and Mrs. Claus is going to come from the North Pole. The Christmas Shop is being decked out in all its finery. If you haven’t visited the shop, you are really in for a treat. There will be refreshments and a drawing, so plan now to attend. Gene Patrick was very much surprised when he arrived home Saturday evening to find the house full of relatives and friends. They came to help him celebrate his 50th birthday. Refreshments were served along with a beautiful birthday cake, bought by his daughter, Tammy Stull. He also received a lot of cards and gifts. A large number of relatives and friends attended the wedding Saturday afternoon of Jill Richmond, daughter of Rev. Charles and Joyce Rkhnfofld, at the Chruch of Christ. Jill and Scott Lucas exchanged their wedding vows with Jill's father performing the cermony with a sermonette by Jim Creamer.

The reception followed in the Family Center with a buffet dinner and a beautiful decorated wedding cake. Jill’s brother, Jay, and his wife, Rhonda, and daughter Courtney of Bakersfield, Calif, arrived home Friday to be here in the wedding and will return home on Monday. Jill and Scott left to spend their honeymoom in Florida. On Sunday, Bill Limerick was surprised by his children with a birthday dinner at Morrow’s Restaurant. Afterwards, cake and ice cream were enjoyed at the home of Bill and Shirley where more relatives arrived for the celebration. Those attending were Dave Limerick and family, Alan Limerick and family, Andrea Limerick, Jug and Laura Limerick, Lois Hunt, Jane and George Dearing, Naomi Williams and Paul and Shelley Williams. The day was made complete when Julia Hite (Limerick) called from Abilene, Texas, to wish her father a Happy Birthday. Bill turned 65 on October 30. Judy Zarhn of the Walkerton Nursing Home was in charge of a bake-off pumpkin contest on Friday afternoon. There were pumpkin cookies, cheese cake, bars, bread, muffins and pudding, fifteen different pumpkin goodies for the judges to taste. They were judged by Father Yates, of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Joan Pulliam, of the Walkerton Shopper and Gladys Sheneman, news corespondent for the Independent News. They tasted all the goodies and chose the following: Ist prixe, Marcia McCartney; 2nd prize, Elizabeth Moreau and 3rd, Donabelle Balsley of North Liberty, who just returned home from Vermont. All the residents and guests got to sample all the goodies after they were judged. It was a fun afternoon and the residents really enjoyed it. Evelyn Eskridge returned home Saturday from Memorial Hospital, where she had to have a heart bypass, so please remember her. Florence Garwood is ill in her home too, 90 please remember her also. The United Methodist Church of North Liberty is celebrating their 65th annual turkey dinner on Saturday, November 3 from 4:007:30 p.m. and also from 1:00 p.m..
