BOMBERS AGAIN DROP FALCONS IN SECTIONAL 28-0 For the second straight year, Dan Brandenburg, a state class sprinter in track and not too bad of a football player as well, helped to end the John Glenn Falcons winning season in the second game of the sectional tourney. The talented senior scored two touchdowns, forced the defense to concentrate on stopping him and had that needed extra help from a couple of teammates as the Bombers of Rensselaer defeated the Falcons 28-6. The loss ended the season for Glenn with a 7-3 record and also after the game, revealed that head coach Dennis Rippy had coached his last game as he stated he was

going to resign his head coaching poaition at Glenn. The Bombers, also for the second year, beaded into the sectional with a losing record only to have great success in the sectional play. They will battle for the sectional tide this Friday night aa they play River Forest for the right to advance to regional action the following week. They are now 5-5 for the year. half. Neither team could find the other’s end zone despite the fact that the Bombers did penetrate to the Falcons one yard line late in the half before being stopped. The Glenn team never got inside the Rensseiaier 25 in this half and the two teams left the field of play in a scoreless tie at halftime even though the Bombers has outgained the Falcons considerably. The second half was a different story. On the first possession, after a kick return by Rick O’Connor, the first effort was almost all O'Connor. Starting at the 48 yard line of Rensselaer, O’Connor carried the mail a couple of times for 28 yards, threw a halfback pass for another 19 and then capped the drive by waltzing in from one yard out giving the Falcons first blood and a 6-0 lead. A pass for two extra points failed, but it was still Glenn on the board and their opponents not. It just took a matter of seconds for this to change. On the following kickoff. Matt Kenny took the ball at his own 15 yard line and raced 85 yards for a touchdown. This was not only a tying touch-

down, but a play that broke the backs of the Falcons at this point of the game. They then converted a two point conversion on a paaa from Brandenburg to Cory West to give the Bombers an 8-6 lead which they were never to lose. The visitors scored again late in the third period when the talented speedster Brandenburg ran 59 yards from scrimmage for another score. Once he gets some daylight, no one is going to catch him and this made it 14-0 by the end of the third period as a pass failed attempting for two more points. Rensselaer put the game on ice in the final period as their defense was still pretty much controlling the Falcons and their offense was just getting rolling. Brandenburg scored again, this time on a 14 yard run and a two point conversion by Jim Miller made it 22-6. The game's final score came on Miller’s touchdown, this one good for 59 yards to complete the night's scoring and ended the Falcons hopes of continuting on in state tourney play. Brandenburg ended the night with 107 yards rushing but was demanding most of the attention of the Falcon defense. Consequently the Bombers' Jim Miller ran wild also, getting 179 yards on the ground. The Scoring GLENN: Rick O’Connor, 1 yard run; PAT: pass failed
