Caroline Danielewsk SENIOR CITIZEN BOWLING NEWS As the days grow shorter and the weather cools, the competition heats up as the Senior Bowlers continue to enjoy making those pins fly at the Walkerton Shady Lanes. And fall they did this past week, as the following scoring tabulations will reveal! The ladies are really “in to their game.” High scratch game was Jean Burden’s 156, just one pin better than Vollie Verkinder’s 155. Goldie Lauzon’s 152 game gave them both a real battle. High handicap game saw Emily Gryb and Vollie Verkinder in a tie, both posting a 223 game. Mildred McKesson rolled a 214 game, just topping Anne Falk’s 213 effort. High series total was Merle Bruesch’s 429, followed by Burden’s 415 and Verkinder’s 410 totals. Nice competition ladies! Such close scores “grab and hold” your attention! The gents were not to be outdone as contenders this week. Just a "spare” made a difference in some of the scoring. High scratch game was Roman Brehm’s 222 game, followed by Claude Nowakowski’s 202 and Harold Schweder’s 201 games. High handicap game was Brehm’s 260, with Nowakowski challenging with a 252 total. Schweder’s 222 placed third. High series total was Schweder’s 543, followed by Brehm’s 533, and Nowkowski’s 506 totals. The gents are steadily increasing their averages, as the competition continues to stiffen! There is still a couple of spots open each week for any interested senior bowler.
