REAL SERVICES NEWS WALKERTON CENTER Hazel and Harold Schweder chaired on Monday and Jim Thibodeaux on Tuesday. Both programs were highlightes by some very funny jokes. Virgin Gwin was in charge of Wednesday’s program and he gave us some very interesting pointers on voting and stressed the importance of the senior vote. Very simply put, the senior citizens have a much larger life span than in previous times and the impact of the senior citizen vote will be felt. Dit and Dot, alias Fred and Opal Bullinger, put on another funny skit and Dit, the master chef, showed off his culinary skill with his homemade bread. The lucky winners were Bonnie Steinke, Rose Minter and Martha Mull.

Fred and Millie served as host and hostess on Friday and we enjoyed the sing-a-long. Juice winners were Dwight Burch, Martha Mull and Harry Schaffer. Violet Wolff will be at the fiddle and Mrs. Worthington will be at the piano for our Halloween treat on the 31st of October. We hope a few ghosts and goblins will also attend. Plans are in the making for a Christmas Party. We had hoped to have a pot luck at the Youth Building site on a Saturday night in December but were informed it would cost $50.00 for building rental and as our budget is very limited we will need further discussion on the matter. America's first extensive hard-sur-face road was built in Pennsylvania. Completed in 1795, it was known 1 as the Lancaster Turnpike and ran 62 miles
