FALCONS BIG PLAYS DROP CULVER 41-0 The John Glenn Falcons used the hii> plav Fridav night to defeat the C ulver Cavaliers to raise their season record to 6-1. 5-1 in the Northern State Conference. This puts i' all i.p to the Falcons and Bremen I ions this Friday night for conference honors as the unbeaten I ions (6-0 in conference plav) will visit in the final game of the regular season. If the Falcons can win. thev will share the crown with Bremen who is the defending Class A State Champion as well 'his year. A loss hv Glenn would give the Lions a perfect 7-0 conference record and the crown all bv themselves. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm. at the Glenn field. The w in over Culver featured the hig plav on a couple of occassions as Rick O'Connor returned the opening kickoff 80 vards for a touchdown and later returned a punt 75 vards for another score. In all he had 185 yards in kick returns, a statistic that doesn't show up in ’he game stats that arc published each week. He also took over the quarterbacking chores with senior John Johnson still nursing a sprained ankle from the New Prairie game. Okwede Oke kicked ’he extra point and it was 7-0 Glenn. The second score came at the other end of the first quarter. Ryan Peterson capped an 11 play drive that covered 54 vards with a I yard run with just :54 showing on the dock. This made it 13-0 as the kick failed. The Falcons blew the game wide open in the second period with two more touchdowns, giving them a big 28-0 lead by halftime. The first came on another kick return by O’Connor, this time a punt return of 75 yards. This came with 3:03 lef' in the half and following the six pointer, a pass from O’Connor to Brvan Vandall added two points on • he conversion. A Culver turnover led to the last score of the half as an intercepted pass with 2:15 left bv O’Connor, gave the Falcons the ball and good field position. O’Connor capped 'he drive with a 25 yard run and Oke kicked the extra point with :0l lef' in the half and it was 28-0. The Falcons scored single touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters. Peterson got his second of 'he night on a 5 yard run in the third period. Tobv Gardner finished up the scoring in the final stanza gening a touchdown with just four seconds remaining and Brian Perrv kicked the extra point to make the final score 41 -0.

Joseph County Commission on the Status of Women will hold a public meeting to receive public comment on social and economic issues confronting women and their families, at the Walkerton Presbyterian Church. 512 Georgia St. S'. Joseph County Citizens are invited to attend and share their concerns with Commission members. Free child care will be provided. The Commission was created in August 1987 by the County Council and County Commissioners to monitor and enhance the status of women. Its specific responsibilities are to develop recommenda'ions to eliminate sex discrimina'ion in all spheres of community life: develop programs which will facilitate this process; develop recommendations for service which will enhance the role of women and assist them in making maxium contributions to the world around them and monitor the implementa'ion of these programs and recommendations. FALCONS TO HOST BREMEN LIONS FRIDAY NIGHT The John Glenn Falcons will host 'he Bremen I ions at 7:30 Fridav nigh' in the most important game of the football season. It is also the las' regular season game of the vear. Bremen leads the Northern State Conference and a Glenn victors would tie the two teams at the top of ’he standings, last vear the Falcons needed a victors in this game to tie Knox for the conference crown and after gaining a first half lead, the Falcons fell to the I ions power in the second half 28-20. Bremen went on to win the Class A State Championship last vear. The Falcons arc currently 6-1 overall for the year, their best record ever at this time Thev will plav a' Marian in the Sectional the following Fridav night when the S'a'e Tournev gets underway.
