CAROLE M. MUNCIE Carole M. Muncie. 53. of Route 2. Box 35-C, Thorntown, formerly of Koontz Lake, passed away at 9:30 a.m., on Thursday, September 27. at her home following a brief illness. She was born on Dec. 8. 1936. in Chicago to Alden and Hazel Marie (Almquist) Holmquist. She had lived in Thorntown since 1985. She was a homemaker, a member of the Tyner United Methodist Church and Epsilon Chapter of Tri Kappa. Walkerton. She was also a licensed beautician. She married Harold R. Muncie, on June 5. 1955. in Walkerton, who survives. Also surviving are her father. Alden Holmquist, of Koontz Lake: two daughters. Karla Cummings, of Plymouth and Kris Pardue, of Lafayette: a son. Robert, of Indianapolis: a brother. Ray Holmquist. of Koontz Lake and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death bv a sister. Joan, in June 1989. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, at the Tyner United Methodist Church with Rev. David L. Ovcrmver. officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walkerton. The Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home. Walkerton, was in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. ELSIE D. JOHNSON Elsie Dirrim Johnson. 100. of Miller’s Merry Manor. Walkerton, passed awav at 1:10 p.m.. on Saturday in the nursing home. She was born on October 15. 1889. in Hamilton. Indiana and she lived in the area since 1925 coming from Niles. Michigan. She married Vern Johnson on October 15. 1910. in Angola, who preceded her in death on March 25. 1953. She retired in 1971 after 22 years as a librarian at the Walkerton Public Library. Surviving are two daughters. Maxine Cripe, of South Bend and Joan Stahly. of Jacksonville. Florida: four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services were held at 11:00 a. m.. on Tuesday at the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. She was a member of the Walkerton United Methodist Church. 50-year member and past matron of Walkerton Order of the Eastern Star 319 and a charter member of the Walkerton Business and Professional Women's Club. She was born on April 21. 1910. in Nor’h Libertv and was a life long Nor'h Libertv and Walkerton area resident. She married Benjamin Everett Baker on Dec. 27. 1928. in South Bend, who preceded her in dea'h on April 21. 1979. She retired after 22 years from Her Place, formerly the Studio Dress Shop. Walkerton. Surviving arc two sons. Dennis Baker, of Bremen and Douglas Baker, of Walkerton: five grandchildren: eight great-grandchildren and four sisters. Mrs. Marguerite (Jack) McCutchen, of Phoenix. Arizona. Mrs. Dorothy Reed, of Nor’h Liberty. Mrs. Ethel Hillegas and Mrs. Florence Weise, both of South Bend. She was preceded in dea'h bv two brothers and six sis'ers. Services will be at 10:00 a.m.. on Friday at the Nusbaum-Elkin Fun?ral Home, Walkerton, with Rev. Marilyn J. Gebert, pastor of the United Methodist Church. Walkerton. officiating.
