WALKERTON Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ruff and Mr. and Mrs. James Sibley entertained at a surprise birthday buffet dinner party, on Saturday evening, for their father. Lee Frailey. Cassopolis and Edwardsburg. Michigan. A good time was had by all. Mrs. Bertha Urbin underwent hip surgery on Wednesday at Elkhart General Hospital. Also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Myers, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Myers and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Morgan and Paula, in Lombard. Illinois. Remus and Lorena Carter, of 507 Illinois St., recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at Teibels, in Schererville. Their children arc Jane Stimple. of DeMotte and Dr. William Carter, of Walkerton. They have six granddaughters and they arc Margaret Janssen, of Indianapolis: Laura Chase, of Auburn: Lynn Millikan, of Rochester, Minnesota; Marilyn Huber, of Valparaiso; Susan Adams and Mary Jane Danner, of South Bend. Thev also have 12 great-grand-children. An open house was held Sundav
afternoon and evening at the home of Vylet Baker, of Walkerton, for Marguerite McCutcheon, of Phoenix. Arizona who has been visiting relatives and friends in the area for two months, and her son. Todd McCutcheon, of Athens. Georgia, who was here for the weekend. Marguerite returned with him for a months visit before returning to her home in Phoenix. The group also celebrated the fifty-second birthdays of Doug Baker. Walkerton, Fran Feiser. North Liberty, Diane Baker, Bremen and Todd McCutcheon. Georgia There were 27 guests present from North Liberty. Lakeville. South Bend. Bremen. Walkerton. Three Oaks. Michigan. Phoenix, Arizona and Athens. Georgia. A delicious buffet supper was enjoyed by all with a special birthday cake. LIONS CLUB NEWS The Walkerton Lions Club participated in the Baseball Benefit Game at Coveleski Stadium in June and helped to raise $2,400.00 for the purchase of an enlarging copier for the South Bend and Mishawaka school systems. The copier will be located at Darden School and will produce materials for the visually handicapped and leaning disabled students who have difficulty reading materials in ordinary sized type. The Walkerton Club will meet Tuesday. August 14. at 7:30 p.m., at Lea's House of Pizza. Dinner and fellowship at 6:30 will preceed the meeting. Guests are welcome. KOONTZ LAKE HOMEMAKERS MEET Carolyn Shaffer hosted the July meeting of the Koontz Lake Extension Homemakers last Monday evening. Club members had worked at the Starke Co. 4 H Fair and manv had entries in the Open Class Building. Three club members had been awarded grand champion in their division; June Ketcham in sewing. Anna Anderson in photography, and Carole Powers in flowers. The club was proud to be so well represented. Following the business meeting refreshments were enjoyed.
