ROUND-TOWN RAMBLERS TO APPEAR AT POTATO CREEK PARK The Indiana Dept, of Natural Resources’ Cultural Arts Program will host a performance of The Round-Town Ramblers, on Sat., June 30. at Potato Creek State Park. The performance, which is free of charge and open to the public, will be held at the Peppermint Hill Picnic area. The Round-Town Ramblers is a talented group from Plymouth who play a variety of acoustic music that is not heard every day. Country and Western hits of the 50’s and 60’s, interspersed with Bluegrass favorites, are added to Irish ballads and jigs. Swedish walking tunes and traditional American music to take you on a musical ramble around the world. The four members of this group are actually made up of two husband and wife couples, Lane and Jennifer Laffoon and Mark and Liza Woolever. The Laffoon's are originally from the Plymouth area where Jennifer’s ability to call old-time dances is a perfect compliment to Lane’s banjo playing. Mark and Liza, originally from the east coast, both have extensive musical training and together play several instruments. The Round-Town Ramblers have played for such events as Governor Orr’s Ball for the Re-Dedication of the Lanier Mansion, the PanAmerican Games, the opening of French-Canadian Exhibit at the Indiana State Museum and the International Special Olympics. Their eclectic musical repertoire promises something for everyone--young and old alike. The Cultural Arts Program is proud to sponsor this performance of the Round-Town Ramblers and invites you to bring the entire family. Don’t forget your lawn chairs and dancing shoes. The standard $2.00 per car admission fee will be charged at the gate. BETTER HOMES CLUB MEETS The Better Homes Extension Cub held their annual picnic at Mr. and Mrs. Harry MalstafTs summer home at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park, near Plymouth, on Monday evening, June 25. Ten members and their families enjoyed the roast sausage sandwiches and drinks, compliments of the MalstafTs and the pot luck supper. Mrs. Leigh Hahn gave the prayer. No sooner were we eating when all had to watch their filled plates as Yogi Bear and helpers came by to see what they could find good to eat. Following the meal a short business meeting was conducted by president, Mrs. Allan Eddinger. The meeting was opened with the repeating of the club creed and roll call. Many different answers were given for the roll call question, what’s your favorite activity to do in the summer.
