FRIENDS OF THE 4TH FIREWORKS AND FESTIVITIES The Walkerton Friends of the Fourth would like to invite you to the greatest fireworks display in Indiana. Place Park on Washington Street is the location for the majority of the day’s events. The organizations have worked hard to bring you different activities and a variety of foods for your pleasure. Wabash Valley Shows will be at the Park from July 3 to July 8 with an

The committee would like to ask the parents to please leave the individual fireworks, such as sparklers, at home because of the danger and fire hazard they pose to a large crowd. The week’s celebration will begin on Sunday. July 1 at 8:30 a.m. with the Community Church Service. Services will be conducted by Rev. Donald King at Place Park. On July 3 the carnival will open in the afternoon and evening for your enjoyment. The Kiddies Parade, sponsored by the Walkerton Tri Kappa, will line up at the

Presbyterian Church at 5:30 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. the parade will travel from the parking lot. down Georgia Street to Van Buren Street and end at Place Park with the presentation of the prizes. The July 4th festivities will start with the Jaycees Bed Race. Registration will open at 9:30 a.m. at the Farmers State Bank parking lot. The registration fee is $50.00 a team and the Jaycees will furnish the bed. Try to get together a team and come and enjoy the fun and complete for one of the trophies available. The race will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the proccedc will be donated to MD A. The activities move to Place Park for the Little Leagues All-Star games. The Wabash Valley Shows will be open for afternoon and evening enjovment. The carnival features a variety of rides and a delicious assortment of foods. From 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. a music program is planned. At 6:30 p.m. the Walkerton American Legion and the Sons of the American Legion, Post 189. will conduct the Flag Retreat Services. We have had to reorganize the ticket drawing procedure because of the delays experienced in last year’s program. Only the organizations that are pre-registered may have their ticket drawings at Place Park. These drawings will
