PROGRESS BEING MADE AT KOONTZ LAKE The nine drop structures constructed in the Lawrence Pontius Ditch last year appear to be working well to stabilize the ditch bottom and to a lesser extent, to trap sediments from entering Koontz Lake. The work on the sediment trap and nutrient filter is being done bv the LaFree Excavating Co. and should be completed in August. It is located south of sth Road and east of Underwood Road. The boat launch at the east end* of the lake should be completed by August. With these accomplishments, the Board of Directors of the Lake Enhancement program feels it is readv to undertake a program to further improve Koontz Lake by removing in-lake sediments. Studies have been completed and the estimated cost for this part of the project will be $850,000 to 1 million dollars. Once again we are asking everyone who is interested in the lake improvement to give towards this project. If you gave 2 years ago, we are asking that you give at least the amount yem gave before and hope that you can increase your donation if possible. We will all benefit with these improvements and we need everyone to share in the expense. As the fund drive progresses, we will list each name of the contributors. If you do not see your neighbor or friends name listed, ask them to join in to build the fund. By each of us working together, we can once again have a great lake. Send your check to Mr. Rav Chapman. Route 4, Box 164 or to Realty World/Lakeside Realty. Route 3. Box 231. Walkerton. Please make checks pavable to Koontz Lake Enhancement Fund.
