School's annual Academic Awards night on May 17th. A variety of scholarships and awards were presented. Several local organizations offered scholarships and approximately 15 students received presidential honors or alumni type scholarships from four year colleges, two year colleges and vocational schools. This year's Hoosier Scholars are Katie Jacob and Angi Rohrer. A recently developed scholarship fund, the John Glenn Scholarship, awarded 51.000 each to each recipients: Tricia Kerckhove, who will attend IUSB; Shelly Platz, who will attend Ivy Tech and Karen Schmidt, who will attend Indiana University. For organizations and anyone else interested in contributing to the John Glenn Scholarship fund, please contact Mike Shuler at the high school. New committee members for the scholarship are welcome.

CONTRACTS LET ON ROADWORK Indiana Department of Transportation Commissioner Christine W. Letts has announced official action has been taken on 110 contracts for Indiana roadwork. In St. Joseph County the following contracts have been awarded. Resurface on State Road 2 from 2.1 to 7.4 miles east of the LaPorte/ St. Joseph County line with work to be completed within 10 working days by Rieth-Riley Construction Co.. Goshen, in the amount of 572.525.68. Park Road improvements in Potato Creek State Park by Walsh & Kelly. Griffith, with work to be completed within 15 working days in the amount of 5101.206.50. Road reconstruction including resurface on Edison-Smilax Rd. from Strawberry’ Rd. to U.S. by Reith-Riley Construction. Goshen, in the amount of 51.022.782.13. In Starke County the following contracts have been awarded. Reconstruction and widening on U.S. 35 over Robbins Ditch, 0.2 mile north of U.S. 30 by Kankakee Valley Construction Co., LaPorte. in the estimated amount of 5975.084.02.
