During the week, you can find John Thomas and Amy Wait in their classrooms at John Glenn High School. Both arc instructors of art working to develope the potential of their students. This weekend, you will find John and Amy again at John Glenn High School but in a different capacity. John and Amy are this year’s guest artists at the annual Tri Kappa Fine Arts and Crafts Festival. They will be exhibiting some of their works and will he available to answer questions about their work. The show is open to the public on Sunday. April 8. from 11 :OO a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Walkerton and North Liberty Tri Kappas are proud to have John and Amy as their guest artists for the 22nd annual festival and extend an invitation for all to visit the show and view area students and adults works of art. Profiles of Guest Artists You can find Amy Wait dabbling in everything from stained glass to weaving. Amy has taught sculpture. photography and basic art for nine years. She also teaches gifted and talented students the art of film making. Amy has a bachelor of art, bachelor of science and master of arts from Purdue University. She has exhibited three-dimensional work at the Snitc Museum, in the Alliance Gallery in Indianapolis Museum of Art. in the student exhibits on campus at Purdue and her work has been accepted into the 1989 Michiana Regional Exhibit at the Century Center. South Bend. Amy tells us that until recently, her forte’ as a sculptural medium has been day. However, she is finding that with children at home, she needs something much more portable and storable. Therefore, pencil, colored pencil and ink have been her means for "staying alive artistically." Amy and husband. Mark, reside in Grovertown with their children. Chelsea, a first grader at OregonDavis and Silas, a toddling two year old. Amy’s son and daughter are her two main sources of inspiration and seem to be following in mommy’s footprints, creating their own "works of art." Occasionally, both "help" mom when least expected. Sometimes these happy accidents have even improved Amy’s work! Whether you find John Thomas in front of a computer, standing with easel and brush ready, or seated with pencil in hand, you can be sure John Thomas is a master at work. John and wife Joan, a gifted and talented teacher at Oregon-Davis, have two lovely daughters. Beth, an eighth grader at Urey and Heather, a fourth grader at Oregon-Davis. John’s family is his biggest advocate and have at times been subjects for his paintings. School where he has taught for 16 years. He was the first John Glenn School Corporation Teacher of the Year in 1984. John has a bachelor of science degree from Indiana University and master of arts degree from the University of Notre Dame. John has a very distinguished background in the arts. South Bend: Museum Guild $3,000: Purchase Award. 32nd annual Mid-States Art Exhibition. Evansville Museum of Arts and Science. Evansville; Best of Show. wrapped up in a single creation. John tells us that in the beginning he began painting people and then moved into painting antique automobiles. He has since returned to panning people, because in his words, "people are what reallv matters. People are important.” Epsilon Chi and Zeta Pi invite you to stop by the John Glenn Commons this Sunday afternoon. Talk with John and Amy and spend some time with two verv talented artists and verv special people. NEED TENNIS COACH At this time, the John Glenn High School girls tennis team is in serious need of a qualified tennis coach.
