Recycling Days March 16 & 17 In North Liberty Recycling Days are set for Friday. March 16. from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday. March 17. from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., a the North Liberty Elementary School. Volunteers for March are the North Liberty Church of Christ members. Materials which can be recycled at this time are aluminum cans, scraped aluminum (rinsed out), newspapers (in paper bags), corrugated cardboard (staples removed). brown, clear and green glass (unbroken, rinsed out. cap removed), and blown plastic bottles (cola. soap. milk. etc., rinsed out and caps removed). New for this month will be office paper (white sheet in a closed box). As effective recycling we need to follow these guidelines listed above. No magazines. KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT SET AT W.E.S. Walkerton Elementary is now taking enrollment information for next year's Kindergarten. Enrollment must be concluded by March 30. Parents may come to the school office or mail in a form for enrollment of your child. To be eligible for Kindergarten the child must be five years old on or before July Ist. A legal birth certificate is required, not a hospital certificate, at the time of enrollment. If you do not have a birih certificate write or contact the health department in the county in which your child was bom. Testing will take place April 25 and 26. All students are screened at Kindergarten entrance. All incoming students are required to have a physical. You may pick up the forms at the office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. any day. CORN BEEF AND CABBAGE DINNER/DANCE St. Patrick’s will be having their annual Corn Beef and (abbagc Dinner/Dance on St. Patrick’s Day this year. The dinner will start at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. March 17th with dancing at b:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. The music will be provided by Enslight. Cost for the evening will be SIO.OO per person and a cash bar will be provided. Tickets can be purchased from the Rectory or at the door that evening. OREGON TOWNSHIP SENIORS TO MEET The Oregon Twp. Senior ( itizens will meet at the Koontz Lake Conservation Clubhouse, on Thursday. March 15. at 12 noon. C.S.T. Rease come and bring your covered dish and table service. We need to discuss plans for the coming year.

ALZHEIMER SUPPORT GROUP TO MEET MARCH 20 An Alzheimer Support Group meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 20. at 7:00 p.m., at Miller’s Merry Manor. Walkerton, in the dining nx>m. The John Glenn High School Jazz Band traveled to Crown Point on March 5 to compete in the ISSMA Jazz Band Contest and received a first division rating for their performance. In the last week the band performed at the Falcon Follies, Miller’s Merry Manor and at the Union Station in Indianapolis. Watch for upcoming performances of the John Glenn Jazz Band . . . plan to attend and enjoy this dynamic group of young musicians.

JOHN GLENN SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES Regular Session CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL The Board of School Trustees of the John Glenn School Corporation met in regular session on Tuesday. March 6. 1990 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of John Glenn High School. All members of the Board were present. The meeting was attended by 286 observers who signed in. They joined the School Board in the recitation of the pledge of allegiance. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Pam Craft moved approval of the minutes of the February 20. 1990 regular session. This motion was seconded by William Millar and approved by a vote of six to zero. Nilas Miller abstained. APPROVAL OF CLAIMS — 314 - 377 After discussion of claims. Don Ludwig moved approval of claims number 314 through 377 which was seconded by Jean Ann Beem. After further discussion the motion was amended to include claim number 257.01 which had been withdrawn at the February 20 meeting. The amended motion was then approved by a vote of seven to zero. At this point William Millar moved to amend the published agenda to have information report 2b presented at this point in the agenda and then to consider all new business items before the old business items and to move new business item 1c to be considered first under new business. This motion was seconded by Dave Hostetler and approved by a vote of seven to zero. 2. Superintendent's Report: b. Middle School Project: Mr. Harvey stated that it was his recommendation at this time that the Board not pursue any further consideration of the proposed grade organization as an alternative to the construction of a new middle school. He recommended that the Board delete this option and proceed with the plans to construct a new middle school on either the campus at North Liberty Elementary or John Glenn High School. Mr. Harvey pointed out that the adverse community reaction was altering the focus of the primary purpose of solving the middle school building program and that he was therefore recom mending no further discussion or consideration of this option. Dave Hostetler then moved approval of the recommendation not to consider grade reorganization any further. This motion was seconded by William Millar and approved by a vote of seven to zero. PATRON RESPONSE Gary Crone commented upon the status of the middle school project. He asked questions about what plans the Board has to do next in the development of the project. He wanted to know what directives the architects have been given. There was some discussion of the need for the meetings which had been (cominued on Page 2)

GLENN SPORTS BANQUET RE SET FOR MARCH 20 On Wednesday. March 28. at 6:30 p.m.. John Glenn High School will be holding their annual Winter Sports Awards Night in the high school cafeteria. This is a change from Tuesday. March 27, due to a conflict in schedules. Athletes participating in winter sports will be honored. A pot luck dinner will be featured and families are asked to bring a covered dish, either a vegetable dish, salad or dessert, serving spoons, and their own table service. The beverages will be provided. After the pot luck dinner, the presentation of awards will be made by the coaches. Pictures of all trophy and special award winners will be taken in the gymnasium following the presentation. Tri Kappa Fine Arts And Crafts Festival rhe 1990 Tri Kappa Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will be held April 7 and 8 at the John Glenn High School dining commons. Epsilon Chi of Walkerton and Zeta Pi of North Liberty sponsor the annual event. Adults and children are encouraged to partiepate. Children create a variety of art and craft projects at school. Parents, when your child brings home that special piece of art work, save it and along with your own. enter it in the 1990 Fine Arts and Crafts Festival. North Liberty Elementary School has set March 26 as the enrollment night for next year's kindergarten. The enrollment time will be a 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. After enrollment a short presentation will be made concerning the developmental kindergarten program and general school procedures. In addition to the meeting and enrollment time, parents will have an opportunity to sign up for their child's developmental testing time which is scheduled for April 19 and 20.
