The Urey Middle School Wrestling Team traveled to Plymouth on Saturday, February 24, for the Plymouth invitational Tourney. After many good matches, three competitors from Urey were crowned champions. They were: Frank Hahn at 110 lbs.. Gayton Marks at 120. and Jeremy Smith at 130. Also wrestling well and placing were Matt Counts. 3rd at 115 lbs., Eric Bilski 4th at 110, Chris Sherman at 100. and Dave Wright at 165. All team members did an outstanding job against some very good competition. On Saturday, March 3. the wrestlers participated in the La Ville tourney, and again did verywell in some tough draws. Frank Hahn repeated his championship effort at 110 lbs., and was joined in the winners circle by Chris Sherman at 100 lbs. Placing second were Matt Counts at 115, Gayion Marks at 120. and Jeremy Smith at 130. At 125. Ike Mark placed 4th. Dave Wright was Sth at 165, and recording 6th were Rocky Plummer at 90 lbs., Eric Bilski at 110, and Dan Schmeltz at 145. For the second consecutive Saturday, all team members did a fine job. and hold much promise for John Glenn wrestling in the future. The Urey wrestlers stand 3-2 in dual competition, defeating Plymouth. 54-48, LaVille, 66-15, and Culver. 70-12. Losses were to LaPorte Boston. 36-66. and New Prairie, 30-36. Individual records to date are as follows: Rocky Plummer 5-5, Jerry Niles 2-6, Chris Sherman 10-2. Eric Bilski 6-6, Frank Hahn 16-1. Matt Counts 12-5. Gayton Marks 12-3, Ike Mark 8-4. Jeremy Smith 10-1, Dan Sch meltz 2-5. Chris Arick 1-5, J.R. Perez 3-7, Mike Walter 3-7, and Dave Wright 4-4. The last home meet will be Thursday, March Bth at North Liberty gym against Bremen at 4:30. Alligators can dow their ears just as camels can dose their noses.
