REAL SERVICES NEWS We have had some very interesting and varied programs this past week. The humorous stories told by Hazel Schweder were thoroughly enjoyed on Monday. Jim Thibodeaux chaired Tuesday's program and he gave us a lot of the history of Social Security. It started in 1936 and the first check was made out for $22.54 in January

of 1940. Social Security pays 39 million people every month and is now in its 50th year. Virgil Gwin was chairperson on Wednesday and we played bingo with Leon McKesson calling the numbers. On Thursday we enjoyed Fred Bullinger’s program and as usual, Fred baked and awarded his homemade bread to the lucky winners who were Helen Cowood.

Dean Knowlton, and Nedra Gyemont. Verice Walz chaired on Friday and played the piano and Mary Cable led us in the singing. FJeanore Lemings won the door prize. A big thank you goes to Betty Clapper who surprised us on Wednesday with homemade peanut butter cookies. Coming attractions are: Wednesday. February 14. we will have A Valentine's party and Violet Wolff and Maxine Worthington will entertain. There are hundreds of languages in the world, but a smile speaks all of them. Remember age is a matter of mind, it you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter! 7TH GRADE GIRLS OPEN BASKETBALL SEASON The Urey 7th grade girls basketball team opened their season Monday against Bremen. Bremen won by the score of 25 to 15. The girls were led in scoring by Renee Fisher with 8 points. Tracy Legge added 6 and Stacie Alrich had 1. The 7th grade A & B teams will be in action again on Tuesday at Plymouth at 4:30 p.m.
