Quinton Wade Kelsey Wallace BREMEN EDGES FALCONS IN KEY NSC BALLGAME The Bremen Lions defeated the John Glenn Falcons for the second time in less than two weeks in what has to be termed as a big bailgame. With the Northern State Conference title probably on the line, the Lions once again used a very sticky zone defense and a lot of free throws to hand the Falcons a 52-45 defeat in conference play. This dropped the Falcons to 5-1 in league plav with just LaVille left in conference action. Bremen meanwhile moved to 5-0 with Triton and New Prairie between them and an outright conference crow n. The game w as plaved once again at Bremen’s pace, dictated on a g<xxl part by their defense which denied the Falcons the good shot. Glenn only connected on 18 of 51 field goal attempts in this game with three of them being three pointers. They were six of 11 from the charity stripe. Bremen on the other hand, also was cold from the floor, hitting only 11 baskets in 37 attempts. Five of the Lions buckets were from three point range. However, they made up for it at the free throw line, hitting on 25 of 35 attempts to outscore the Falcons by 19 from the stripe. A total of 25 fouls whistled against Glenn while only 11 against the Lions. This is the same Bremen team that a week before in the Bi-County tourney finals was called for only four fouls in an overtime victory Their zone defense is the key to their low fouls and control of the play. The game was close throughout and the lead changed hands seven times. Bremen held the lead at all the quarter stops, leading 28-22 at halftime. However, the Falcons came back strong in the third quarter and had the lead for the last time early in the final stanza 37-36 with just over seven minutes to play. However, a couple of three point baskets boosted the Lions in front again and their 11 of 17 free throws in the final quarter held on for the victory. Weston. Devine and Feldman paced the Lions with 15. 13 and 10 respectively while the Falcons were led by the Stedman brothers, Kevin getting 12 and Chris 10. Two Falcons. Charlie Winger and Chris Stull, fouled out of this contest. Heat Marian Friday Night The Falcons will put their 11-3 record on the line Friday night as they host Mishawaka Marian with the B-Team game scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m. BOX SCORE Bremen fg ft fta p tp Devine 3 5 8 1 13 Stillson 10 0 12 Weston 4 4 4 3 15 Newcomb 0 4 8 2 4 Feldman 1 8 10 2 10 Manges 2 0 0 1 4 Hinkle 0 4 5 0 4 Jones 0 0 0 I 0 TOTALS 11 25 35 11 52 Glenn C.
