While the handicaps increased in many cases as the averages lowered. the enthusiasm among the group remained at a high pitch as did the shouts of glee as the pins fell! The ladies enjoyed some very close contests in the various categories. Liz Moreau's 167 Highscratch game just lopped Mildred McKesson’s Ib6. Merle Bruesch was not far behind, posting a IbO scratch game. High-handicap game of 232 was Moreau’s with McKesson and Anne Falk in a dead heat for second place, each posting a 221 total, and Virginia Spillman placing third with a 208 total. High-series total was McKesson's 447, strongly challenged by Jo Wozniak's 443, and followed by Bruesch's 416. The scoring tells the story of close competition enjoyed by the ladies! The gents were also closely grouped in their scoring. Highscratch game went to Mel Divine's 209 game, followed by Marion Anderson’s 195 and Eli Sobat's 187 games. Divine’s 245 high-handi-cap game was followed by Leon Verkinder’s 237 and Anderson's 229 games. Anderson’s even 500 high-series total was the only series total posted at 500 or above. Several handicap numbers were increased as the gents started the new year, but that did not decrease the competition on bit. There is still a spot open for any senior who would like to have some
