Her Ibl high-scratch game topped Clare Martin's 156 and Mildred McKesson's 140 games. Divine's 217 high-handicap game beat Gertrude Brehm’s 208 and Grace Pugsley's 205 efforts. Divine's 44b high-series just topped Martin's 411, the only series totals above 400 among the Ladies. The Gents saw some close competition. especially in the highscratch game. Marion Anderson and Eli Sobat tied at 172 for that "honor”. High-handicap game went to Jin’ Thibodeaux who had a 224 total. Sobat followed with 210 and Anderson with 207. She's always been gtxxi about using her litter box until a few weeks ago when she abandoned the box and started using the dining room carpet. What can we do to stop her? Answer: One thing you can be sure of: Muska is not punishing
you. If it's any comfort. Muska’s actions are the most common behavioral problem in cats. There are several possible reasons why Muska isn't using her box. Often a cat will avoid a box that is not clean and well maintained. It may not like the litter being used or the location of the box. Too many cats may be using the same box or the house may be hx’ big for the number of boxes. Muska mav prefer the texture of the carpel (some cals pick on potted plants). There may be a new stress in the environment or in Muska (she mav be sick). Sometimes advancing arthritis makes it difficult for a cat to manage (he box. You should consider four factors as you attempt to solve Muska's problem. They arc cleanliness, smell, texture and location of the box. Most cats arc persnickety about having a clean box with unscented litter, though some don't mind litter that is scented or mixed with crushed plant byproducts. In either case, you need to keep the litter clean and dry by scooping out feces or replacing soiled litter. Remember too that cals' sense of smell is 20-30 times what it is in humans. A box that smells offensive to people will smell worse to a cat. Most cats prefer a box that is away from food and in a quiet, low-traffic area. A good rule of thumb is one litter box per cat and one box per floor in the house. The texture of carpeting seems to attract some cats. You can change the surface of the carpet by covering it with plastic or paper. Some fmd that putting the cat's food bowl in the area will discourage the cat from misbehaving. Checking through these possibilities and making needed changes should solve your problems with Muska. In the meantime you will find a solution of half warm water and half white vinegar effective in cleaning vour carpet. Nate to all dog owner*: Protect your dog from heart worm disease.
