Lucille Dixon and Crystal Lawrence will serve as hostesses for the Koontz Lake Conservation Club dinner meeting on Saturday evening at the clubhouse, at 5:00 p.m. C.S.T.. or 6:00 p.m. E.S.T. Over the weekend. Nicholaus Von Baron IV. was motored to Mishawaka. where he enjoyed a visit with Darwin and Rhonda Stephenson. Not being used to a waterbed. he lost a lot of sleep. He is back home and seems to be caught up now. Mrs. Mary Louise Schober. of Chicago, was a Sunday guest of Mrs. Margaret DeMyer. Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Cripe entertained with a wiener roast on Sundas for approximately 25 people. family members and close friends and neighbors. Mrs. Ruth Ullery and Judv Mercer went to HamleCon Sunday and then onto visit with Mr and Mrs. Glade Wisler. fhev then went on to Valpraiso to meet with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wisler for dinner. This was asked by all those attending the annual Halloween dinner meeting of the Walkerton Business and Professional Women’s Club, on Thursday evening. October 26. when they gathered at Al's Diner banquet room. Koontz lake, at 7:00 p.m. A delicious salad bar. fried chicken, baked potato, dressing, green beans and dessert was served to 37 members and four guests. President Vada Stull opened the meeting. Guests were Marv Bierlv. Selma Saxton. Jackie Edwards and Nedra Williams. In the costume judging prior to the dinner, winners were Joe Rannvlls. Mvrna Daube and Connie Medich. An update on the Goodie Baskets. a project started last year, was that two more had been turned in and that there are some still out. Some 300 of Dr. Frash's colleagues joined in the continuing education programs developed by the IOA Department of Education and the Indiana Chapter of the American Academy of Optometry to enhance the professional care Doctors of Optometry provide to eye patients. LOCAL RESIDENT AT OLE MISS PERFORMS IN CAMPUS MUSICAL University of Mississippi student Katie Hershberger, of Walkerton, played the role of Carmen in the Ole Miss Homecoming musical production “Sweet Charity”. The show, produced by the university’s music department in three performances during homecoming weekend October 26-28. featured a full orchestra and a cast of 32 performers in the 19 scenes and 17 musical numbers. REAL SERVICES NEWS Linda Matzat. a naturalist from the Potato Creek Park, was our guest and speaker on Wednesday.
Linda's talk was about the birds who winter over and she told us how to care for the birds during the winter months. We really enjoyed the white elephant auction on Thursday. Marthe Malstaff served as our auctioneer and got lots of bids. The money raised will go into our ‘ kitty’’ and will be used for needed things at the nutrition site. We had a lot of baked items brought in for the auction too. On Friday we held our usual "sing-a-long" with Verice Walz at the piano. Fred and Millie Daniels sang for us and also led the singing.
